Y’know one of the things I don’t like about D+ is the inability to rate something you’ve watched, even just a 👍or 👎. You’d think that would skew their evaluation of how well received something is. I mean, if someone starts watching a series and doesn’t finish that obviously is telling. But I will sometimes finish something just to have the complete story but really not enjoy it that much or be interested in a second season. Also it can mess up the suggestion algorithm if it gives you options related to something you watched but didn’t like all that much.
The interface needs an overhaul again that is for sure. I would like the ability to also clear the "Continue Watching" section as sometimes it doesn't read the fact that I've finished something.

The interface needs an overhaul again that is for sure. I would like the ability to also clear the "Continue Watching" section as sometimes it doesn't read the fact that I've finished something.
I want (like every other streaming service I've used) to be able to add or delete a title from my Watchlist just by hovering over the title image rather than having to go to the movie/show's individual page to add or delete, then have to return to the Home or Search page to add something else. Especially when the Home page is super slow to load.

I also want the darned top menu to appear when I've finished watching something rather than being forced to their "if you enjoyed this show/film, try this one" so I have to go to a different page I don't want to go to before I can get to a menu with the Home or Watchlist pages.

I also wish it would stop automatically signing me out after a day or so. Stay signed in until I sign out or close my browser - how difficult is that?

Such simple interface fixes and in 3+ years, they haven't bothered. Ugh.

Does anyone here really think that Iger is really just going to say “Sure Comcast you just take most of Hulu's 48.2M subs"? Especially since they are the highest ARPU that Disney has. I mean sure some of those are Bundle subs. But really I don't think Iger is going to let any go without a fight, especially since Wall St just raked Disney over the coals for losing 4M of the cheap subs. What do you think they will do when Disney potentially loses 10s of Million sub from Hulu going to Comcast that are the highest ARPU?

So in the end I'm still saying that Disney ends up with full control of Hulu, whatever the "deal" actually looks like who cares. But we'll see what happens. :)

I mean, I'd hope Wall Street would enjoy the 20 billion dollars that Disney gets from Comcast in lieu of those subs (Disney has certainly burned less cash for more subs generated organically with D+). BUT Wallstreet is literally insane and seems to be tying the valuation of the company to a tiny fraction of its entire structure. P&R be damned.

For the record, I do fully still think Disney will acquire Hulu. Unless Comcast is utterly insane and throws too much money at them.

Comments today from Comcast CEO Brian Roberts on Hulu.

"Comcast is prepared to sell its 33% stake in Hulu to Disney, but the question at this point is landing on the right price for that, according Comcast CEO Brian Roberts.

“I think it’s more likely than not” that Comcast will end up selling full control of Hulu to Disney, said Roberts, speaking Tuesday at MoffettNathanson’s Technology, Media and Telecom Conference in New York.

Comcast currently holds a 33% stake in Hulu. Starting in January 2024, Disney can require Comcast to sell its stake in Hulu (and, conversely, Comcast can force the sale). Under the terms of the Disney-Comcast deal for Hulu, the “guaranteed floor value” of Hulu is $27.5 billion, meaning Comcast’s stake is worth a minimum of about $9.2 billion.

Roberts said “I think we have a very valuable position” vis-a-vis Hulu and said the job now it to arrive at a valuation of Hulu that takes into account multiple factors. “What would a willing buyer in a robust auction [for Hulu] pay?” Roberts asked rhetorically. A streaming service on the scale of Hulu has never gone up for sale, he noted. Part of the appraisal process for valuing Hulu, Roberts said, is accounting for the fact that “you get all the content from Disney and Fox forever, so in theory what’s that worth?”

Regarding a deal for Comcast’s Hulu stake with Disney, Roberts said, “I think ultimately that will be valuable for our shareholders.”

That seems... incredulous.

TWDC owns all the content produced by Disney and Fox, not Hulu.

That would have to have been one outrageous contract that established Hulu in which Disney and Fox said, "And we're reassigning ownership of all our content to Hulu!"

If Disney buys out Comcast, will Disney/Hulu get all the content from NBC/Universal?

I guess that settles the question on whether Comcast was even going to make an offer to try and buy out Hulu from Disney.

So anyone else at this point still trying to claim Disney isn’t getting full ownership of Hulu?

You know Roberts just trying to squeeze every dime out of this deal.

For the record, I do fully still think Disney will acquire Hulu. Unless Comcast is utterly insane and throws too much money at them.

The one thing that feels plausible to me - though still very unlikely - would be Disney selling the "Live TV" aspect of Hulu including the infrastructure to Comcast and Disney taking the streaming content to combine with D+. Comcast already is in the distribution business with Xfinity cable and Sky, etc so it is a more natural fit for their company than Disney. Comcast would have more ability to negotiate deals with the various networks by leveraging both the Live TV streaming and cable together. I could see them adding the service to Peacock so they have "regular" Peacock and then "Peacock with Live TV".

Again, not that I'm expecting that, but it feels plausible to me.

Apparently the Live TV aspect is actually profitable, so it might be a valuable asset to hold, but it would also reduce Disney's need to put out more money so it might have some value to them to sell something for that reason.

It’s an odd one because having Hulu probably doesn’t make sense for either company at this point
It only doesn't make sense if you consider only Hulu as a standalone service long term, which is not likely the case. But when you consider that the value of Hulu is in the content and the subscribers then it makes sense as both companies can use both to bolster their respective services.

I still don't get why everyone is so quick to think that Disney can't run the LiveTV component either as a standalone service or combined with D+.

Hulu's content doesn't need to be on Hulu to be valuable. "Grownup" shows can be on Disney+ without the Hulu branding and be just as valuable.

When cable is finally dead... who wants to be the service that carries "Live TV"?
ESPN, Fox News, MSNBC, and WWE.

Nothing else needs to be live.
