Disney's Reaction to Harry Potter Details?

I think a lot of locals will flock for this, but this is minor expansion. It is Meet and Greets and a D-ticket ride. If there were a massive E ticket like JTTCOTE or INdy I might agree but I don't see a family from NJ or MI or TX seeing this commercial and booking a vacation just for FLE.

That is where I think you may be wrong. If I had a young child and saw a ad for this where I live(Indiana) and had never been and knew it would be a great experience for my family I would absolutely plan a trip to see it.

must not be a family man yet.

i give up on you guys too. we'll wait till the number come out.. someone bookmark this thread so we can find it in 2 years.

I don't see anything in his posts that said anything that would exclude families. A JTTCOTE or an INDY ride would definitely appeal to families.

well since Lee said it it must be gospel.

I think you need to take a step back and look at this not as whether people will choose Uni over Fantasy Forest. I guess we'll have to wait another 2 years for the 2011 attendance #s to come out, but I bet we will definitely see an increase in visitors to both MK and WDW.

you don't just get to write out Locals or repeat visitors or what have you as not being a factor. Those do count if they bring an uptick to the attendance numbers.

but I bet we're going to see people who do not come to FL on a regular basis, or might not take vacations every year, or might opt for a cruise over Orlando, who are hearing about Harry Potter opening up this year, and FLE opening up next year and will actually wait until they are both opened before making a trip down here for a couple reasons...the first being that they don't make regular trips to the theme parks, and 2, because HP land is going to be hellacrowded this year!

That is where I think you may be wrong. If I had a young child and saw a ad for this where I live(Indiana) and had never been and knew it would be a great experience for my family I would absolutely plan a trip to see it.

OK but I doubt you are going just for FLE.

I have always wondered about the staying power of HP. I as an adult loved the books and still enjoy the HP stuff. My nephews and nieces, who came of age with HP, could careless about HP. They read the books and saw the movies but arenot what I would call HP fans. I have also noticed the younger kids are not even reading the books. Some see the movies but they don't seem to be fans.

HP has been ingrained in the culture they are already teaching it at colleges

Also while I think FLE is a failure in many ways it is a champ in the most important way. It will add to the capacity of MK which is the biggest reason it is happening.
Truth. Spreads the strollers out so I can maybe actually walk through FL one of these days.

Yep. Time will tell.

Why???
If I have never been and don't know much about WDW and that ad comes on and I suddenly want to go then isn't that what drew me to the parks?

Ok I will take your word for it but WDW is much more than FL. There are crazy HP fans that are going for just HP and might not do anything else in IOA.

No one will book a trip for FLE.
You know this for a fact?

Just because you THINK people will not book a trip for FLE or anything else you do not like does not mean they will not do that.

Quit speaking for everyone else in the world and only speak for what and who you know is fact..

YOU do not see that...that does not mean that it will not happen..once again..quit speaking for everyone else.

I could care less about HP World or whatever because I have no interest in it what so ever...same as Universal or IOA.

Will I ever go?..maybe..depends on if my daughter chooses or wants to do that one day when she is older...we will continue to go to WDW and whether they have anything new or big or huge does not matter..and many people feel the same way.

I am sure HP World will be huge..and that is great..will it hurt Disney?..I am not in the position to say yes or no..my opinion..OPINION being the word here is no..but that is what I think...I may be wrong.

So many people saying that things will happen for FACT when no one knows that right now.

Let us just wait and see and if your OPINION is right then feel free to come here and say that..but until then..say how you feel and what you THINK but quit speaking for everyone else until you have proof!

Yes I am all knowing  you are one of the few that don't care about HP. ALso I never said HP would hurt WDW I said FLE won't add many people.

I absolutely agree with you on that but what I am saying to the occasional person who doesn't know much they may plan a trip based on this only to find out how immense WDW is. I know I have had friends who went for the 1st time tell me they weren't expecting WDW to be so huge and how tired they were after walking the parks.

Me personally I wouldn't plan a trip around FLE as WDW as a whole is what draws me in from the parks to the shops, mini golf, water parks and entertainment.

I was referring to the fact that he strongly believes that no one will book a trip to Disney just because of FLE...

I don't think it is much of a reach. Have you seen the people that show up to the mivies dressed up??? I can see flocks of them spending the whole day there. Now if it were a Star Trek land I would spend the whole day there :lookaroun

I love WDW and go at least 3 times a year but HP is getting me to go to Universal for the first time in 5 years

Yeah..roll your eyes because I am sure many of us here do whenever you post..

There are more then a few who could care less about HP I am sure..

Once again...you do not know for a FACT...look up what that means if you need too..that FLE will not add many people..so quit saying that you KNOW until you can prove it..once you can..feel free to do so.

I think that this is the crux of the matter - and I believe that a lot of it depends on the demographics of the families involved.

I have 2 boys, a 7yo and a 19yo. The 19yo grew up reading all of the HP books, he would love checking this out. While the 7yo has attempted to watch some of the HP movies, there are some that we have regretted letting him see due to weeks worth of nightmares and sleeping issues....(the werewolf scene did it)

At this point, we'd be more likely to visit FLE than HP - and let the 19yo go over to see HP on his own if he wants - or wait until the 7yo is older.

Exactly FLE imo is an added bonus while imo there is nothing special about a bunch of M&G's and a D ticket omnimover it is needed.
