Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend

As for showering- Ive used the showers at quite a few disney hotels with zero issues after my long runs so I wouldnt think twice about it (bring your own soap though as the stuff provided stinks...) The ones at Saratoga are prob the nicest but I usually end up running All Stars or Pop I know those ones better... If you have any guilt I'd just spend a few bucks in the food court then you are 'technically a patron' :)

Ive ran several disney races in 'threat of rain' but its (knock on wood) never rained hard during a race (downpoured on the final dozen or so runners of princess one year after the whole race was 'threat of rain') After running a half 2 weeks ago in almost constant rain I'd take doing a disney run in rain since atleast its roadway vs dirt trail like I did (from the knees up it was almost pleasant since it kept me cooler- knees down it was horrible when the dirt turned into mud and my toes froze..) Id make sure to bring a ziplock bag for any electronics and just make the best of it :)

The first hour of my first (non-Disney) marathon was in the rain, and that part wasn't too miserable; it was the next ~4 hours of running in sopping wet clothes/shoes that got a little tiresome. If my blisters could talk...

If it's raining prior to the start, I'd recommend wearing a trash bag to keep dry as long as possible, and maybe plastic grocery bags tied around your shoes to keep them dry while you wait; obviously you'd take these off before starting, but they'll make the wait much more pleasant. Also, wear as little as possible for the race. Bulky clothes get especially heavy when wet, so try to avoid that

Most of the forecasts I've seen make it look like the potential rain is later in the day, so hopefully it will hold off. Then again, if it's anything like the 10K in January, it might actually be more comfortable if it were raining (we did get some sprinkles toward the end of the 5K)

Thanks for the tips guys :D As a southern Cali native, I've... never run in the rain before. Eep. I'll be sure to put some blister bandaids on beforehand just in case. The forecast seems to change at least twice a day (I've been checking like a maniac!) so I guess we'll see. Doing a rain dance hoping it blows out to sea before the weekend!

I hope I can at least grab that beautiful dark blue (purple?) I DID IT shirt and the medal pin Friday night =( Hoping the whole place hasn't been ravaged by then.

I loooove that pink sweatshirt but it's probably at least $70 and I need another hoodie sweatshirt like I need a hole in my head...

Also are those gym towels? Really cute.

The rD merchandise preview is up. It almost looks like they created more items for this than all of the Marathon Weekend races combined!

Some are repeats, but yeah, thats alot of merch. But not surprising at all. Look at most of the expo vendors at any running expo. Plenty of ones that sell tutus, skirts, glittery things etc, and nothing aimed solely at guys. I still think women buy way more merch/running gear than guys in general.

Nice tip about the Bodyglide on the feet. I have never thought about that. It doesn't rub off into the sock to much? I bet those socks are awfully gross after the race.

It might rub off on cotton socks but with a decent pair of tech socks it worked just like it would on your other sensitive areas. For example if you use it between your legs/thigh area for a normal race your shorts don't get super gross because of it. Now if you were putting vaseline on your feet...

Hi! Anyone know if you can park at Boardwalk and spectate for the 10k from there "illegally" or just the Finish Line?
I don't see why they would stop you. There were a handful of spectators in that area during Marathon Weekend, but they may have been staying at the hotel. Obviously, they have the standard security guards at parking lot entrances, but I would bet they'll let you in if you tell them what you're doing

And it would definitely be great to have some crowd support out there! :)

Finished the Royal Family 5K! Fun race but very crowded with a lot of walkers. Character lines were at least 75 people deep for Princess Atta, Mushu/Mulan, Genie/Jasmine, Dopey and the Beast. We didn't stop for any of them. :(
I ran with @plaz10 and @Howe !! :D

Liked the 5k- Character Lines were insane but overall a fun experience- Realized HOW hard is it to *not* run a race (did the race with a friend who has extensive medical problems and for her finishing under an hour was HUGE! we Finished in 58 and change)

Did notice that this version of the snack box was more jumbled than previous (who wants hummus on potato chips?!?)

Had to stop back by the expo to pick up the 'art cards' since I had forgotten to register for them and was amazed how dead the expo was-

But so ready to run tomorrow :)
