Not sure if they released "A Whole New World" or "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" this far in advance, but it is a great idea for marketing to have released this.

Halle’s voice is perfect for Ariel. I can’t wait for the entire soundtrack to drop.

Jeeze, THIS is what they were sitting on?

I absolutely hated the clip they released at D23 (I think it was D23) where it was just the "out of the sea, wish I could beeeEEEEEeeEEeeEE" part. While I still don't like that bit, the rest of the song was fantastic. "Ready to stand" gave me chills.

I think the visuals of this movie are an absolute trainwreck but the soundtrack should be good.

It's certainly an upgrade from Emma Watson's horrid autotune in the Beauty and the Beast remake.

I don't think the remake will be as good as the animated original, but I do think it will elevate Halle Bailey to be a massive star.

Initial projection for opening weekend / total domestic.

These numbers would be a disaster given what they're spending on marketing.

They will be lucky to get anywhere near that sandwiched between FastX and Transformers.
I think FastX and Transformers is targeting a different audience than The Little Mermaid.

Elemental is the movie I'm worried about. It makes no sense to stuff the movie in a month that also includes Across the Spiderverse, Transformers, The Flash and Indiana Jones 5.

The Little Mermaid is kind of scheduled in the middle of the Disney killing fields. Maybe they should delay until late summer?

I have to agree, I think The Little Mermaid is likely to skew female, like many of the other princess films have done in the past, and historically Fast and Transformers skews male - albeit I'd argue Fast has become more of a neutral in recent outings.

Transformers has become more of an overseas franchise as domestically transformers hasn't made more than 130 million since the third film, and each film has had diminishing results (domestically) since the second film. This also poses true for international grosses nosediving after the third one (nearly 50%!). Will be interesting to see how it will fold out for that film as otherwise all signs point to a dying franchise, but hopefully I'm wrong for the sake of a healthy box office!

The bigger competition in realistically is Spider-Man as they are both family films.

Have you seen the projections for Fast X…if true that will be a disaster…it is projected to make even less then the last one …Plus Transformers has been on a downward trajectory

Projections aside, I’m really looking forward to this film. It’s a bit puzzling to me that some here are already celebrating what they expect to be its failure. If you’re not interested in watching it, why invest so much energy in dampening the enthusiasm of those who are?

It’s such a sad way to be, but any type of change is very difficult. I think it’s a misery loves company kind of thing but who knows.

Here, it seems to be a group of certain people and they do it with many many movies, especially the remakes.
