Disney's Live Action The Little Mermaid

Alan Menken is changing the songs for stupid reasons. That fact along with adding of other songs being made with that mindset is very concerning to me.

I'm sorry that's a difficult concept to get through your head but that's how I feel.

What you just stated is an opinion - not a fact. I think you should probably skip this movie. It had triggered you in many ways. That’s MY opinion.

Has been gone over time and time again in many threads across the site involving many recent decisions by Disney in the parks and films like this. There never was nor is there anything wrong with the original film. No reason to change things other than stupid pandering.

Buddy- Oh no, I'm going to see it, and I'm going to keep voicing my opinion about it, hope you enjoy it!

Then just watch the original, and don’t go to the remake since it upsets you so much. Easy!

They’re not changing anything about the original. The upcoming movie is a reimagining of the original. Two different movies.

Funniest thing about this is:

1. They cast Ariel with the intention of diversifying the Mermaid character. No problem there.

2. But given the evident mediocrity of the movie based on marketing, you know some execs would’ve liked to cut their losses and toss this off to D+ like they did with Pinocchio and Pan.

3. But if they did that they’d be accused of racism because of 1.

So now they’ve got a 130-min kids movie musical that has upset some people and that looks like tired green screen garbage to other people. Nobody seems to know who the audience is for this, and it’s opening during a crowded summer season.

No idea if this will make $25m or $85m the first weekend but either way absolutely wouldn’t surprise me if it drops to $10-15m its second weekend.

What conspiracy? The point is their hands were tied because of decisions made early in production.
Here: "But given the evident mediocrity of the movie based on marketing..."

You surmise this to be true and then purport it to be true. You have no proof. But you spin a fanciful chain of events based on that baseless assumption. It's just your opinion. Not a factual reality that will set off a chain of events.

It’s a fact that Disney’s hand was forced to give this a theatrical release because of the issues involved with casting. That’s reality. They painted themselves into a corner. Maybe it’ll make $200m. Maybe more. Maybe less. But the casting forced them to throw a ton at the marketing and release to stave off accusations of dumping the Mermaid of Color.

As far as I know, nothing you’ve mentioned has proven to be a fact, just heresay or gossip. Is there actual proof of the statement you’ve said below? I genuinely would like to see those sources as I missed these rumors.

The "Mermaid of Color"? Good lord. Also, absolutely none of what you are saying has any basis as fact. You are just blabbing a bunch of opinions and calling them facts and it's not working.

Some users on here are always hostile towards others. Degrading speech and belittling others.

You can't discern tone from reading text online but good lord when people type a certain way, you can freaking tell.

Some users on here do not appreciate the presentation of personal opinions as facts and nor do some users appreciate instances of veiled racism. Because good lord when people type in a certain way, you can freaking tell.

And your evidence to support this fact is ?
