How can you declare that it is not a good movie if you have not even seen it???? I’m seeing it Thursday night and if it sucks, I will be the first one on here to declare that it sucks. But you don’t know that yet, and neither do I. In the meantime, a lot of the “bad” reviews on Rotten Tomatoes (it’s still mainly positive) are from extremely questionable sources, like the far right Rupert Murdoch owned New York Post, which hasn’t said anything true in years. And this review just came up on my feed. It’s from Variety, which I trust a lot.

I am also looking very much forward to this movie and am planning on seeing it sometimes this weekend, if it does “suck”, in my opinion, I’ll be on here to say so as well.

Yup. This. Exactly this. People declaring that it suck’s before they see it is just ridiculous.
My biggest concern so far is the “Scuttlebutt” song.

Halles vocals are incredible and I can’t see how anyone can say any different.

Melissa McCarthy & Daveed Diggs look/sound like they’ll be giving some stand out performances as well.

Jonah Hauer-King also sounds great as Eric.

As per my previous comment, don’t really care for Akwafina, and I don’t think she was a good choice. Javier doesn’t seem like a great Triton either. I haven’t listened to the new songs on the soundtrack but I have heard positive things.

There was an annoying seagull in the absolutely atrocious Pinocchio remake as well. That one was insanely voiced by Lorraine Bracco. Hopefully Akwafina is better than that, lol. Don’t know anything about this Scuttlebutt thing.

The reviews are telling us what an educated observer would have guessed - it’s incredibly safe, workmanlike, uninventive, and any new additions feel extraneous BUT Bailey and McCarthy are very good, production values are high, and the core story remains strong. In the pantheon of Disney paint-by-number remakes, it’s one of the better ones. If that’s what you want, you’ll enjoy it.

Look, we all like what we like. I’m gonna see Fast X even though I know it will be dumb as heck. I want these remakes to stop, but I’m not gonna begrudge folks who like them a good time.

So basically the worst Disney movie since 2017.

And one of the worse of all time.

Enjoy!!
You do know that it is Monday and the film opens on Friday, correct? Most reviewers have not yet weighed in, and I thought that most of you haters are of the “reviews don’t matter” faction anyway.

Sure the reviewers are mostly Disney shills.

However I have been informed that audience score doesn’t count, so what am I suppose to do?

🤷‍♂️

Trauma’s saying a lot of incorrect things, but the critical consensus is pretty much set. We may see a few points of movement in the score, but it’s unlikely to be substantive.

I’ve seen Rotten Tomatoes scores change drastically (for both better and worse) between a Monday and a Friday opening.

So let me get this straight. The good reviews are Disney shills and the bad reviews are legit????
I don’t believe the critic reviews at all when it comes to Disney movies.

I have posted audience reviews and been shouted down on this forum that they don’t count.

So I guess if everyone gets to cherry pick what counts or not I should join in on the fun.
