Are we talking about Barbie, the Sound of Freedom, or Jason Aldean?
There were a few articles about Barbie being controversial, which were quickly drowned out by hundreds of articles about the movie, which were quickly drowned out by thousands of articles about the song. It’s so hard to keep up with all the manufactured faux outrage right now I can’t keep up.

I forgot my favorite, being mad at the US women’s soccer team for not singing.
I was just happy they were standing, gotta look for the positives in life. I’m not a fan of a lot of their antics but this one cracks me up, they can’t win (socially) no matter what they do. (They win plenty on the field though).

Honestly I've tried finding articles, but I'm struggling to even find the outrage. I can at least figure out the outrage on the other 2 (and TLM for that matter), but I can't figure out Barbie at all. Is the outrage she's a strong woman and Ken is not? Is that why it's inappropriate for kids? I mean, what is it that's inappropriate for kids that I'm missing?

The couple I saw when I searched, from Fox, were about LGBT issues, as usual. Which is ironic given it’s a PG13 movie and by 13 kids are more than old enough to grasp LGBT concepts, not really a controversy.
When I do a google search for “Barbie controversy” most the results are about the China map or Barbie doll controversies that have nothing to do with the movie.

LOL, I guess cause there's LGBTQ in it (don't they always say they just don't like that those people are so out about things, they aren't trying to eliminate them?). I wonder if these same people had melt downs over Black Widow talking about taking showers with Bruce Banner?Read the plot. Well Barbie and Ken are dumb as bricks. Barbie world is run by Barbies and Kens are second class citizens. They go to the real world where men run the world. Ken takes over Barbie World. Barbie returns and takes it back instead of learning to be equals and working together. Girls rule. Boys drool.

Absolutely nothing is controversial about this PG-13 movie, unless you're a parent who did absolutely no research and took your 7 year old daughter to it. But then that parent would have no one to blame but themselves.
As for the interesting point of Barbie vs Mermaid, the opening weekend box office was just revised upward for Barbie this morning. It beat the Mermaid's opening weekend by an even bigger margin, and will be blowing past Mermaid at both the domestic and overseas box office rather fast.
And we also see the true potential of the Overseas Box Office that Little Mermaid completely botched and missed out on. In just one weekend overseas, Barbie made about 70% of the overseas total that it took Mermaid two months to cobble together. Ouch.

But you can't judge it until you see the Blu-Ray sales this fall and the streaming Nielsen ratings next winter.
