Talk about crazy money...someone is selling their 4 tickets on Ebay, 22 bids and still going at $760!!!!
Reminds me of dumb people who were buying BOXES of PS3 (aka the empty box) online, thinking it was the game system online, and did bid 300+ USD for that.

A fool and their money....

I think it will be a very cool experience to those who get to go to this event. If I lived closer or happened to be visiting at that time, I would definitely consider it. As I'm not, I got tickets to the 10pm showing on the 17th in IMAX 3D... That was the hubby's choice. I'm excited to see it and have already told my boss I might still be wearing my Star Wars t-shirt the next day to work. :)

IMAX 3D = $88 for a family of 5.
IMAX 3D + Star Tours = $500 for a family of 5.

Not going to Hollywood Studios after the movie saved you $411. :)

Star Tours with the new Force Awake scene, Star Wars Launch Bay, and the first performance of the new Star Wars firework show. There is quite a bit more to it than you say, and or some, that carries value.

I guess early access to this stuff might be that much of a value to some. That $411 will buy a lot of t-shirts when we get access to it all soon after the party. :)

I have to only consider my husband and I, which makes it less expensive than a family of 5. Everyone's circumstances are different. I'm sure if I had children, I probably wouldn't consider taking them. Why not make it a special date night? As @wdwmagic said, there are other features to the price than just the movie.

Yeah, it definitely could be a special SW geek date night. Hmm, must rethink this.

What is of value to some - whether intrinsic, monetary or other - especially hard core fans, should not be cause for derision from other posters. What is valuable is personal and subjective. I don't understand why someone would pay over $5 for a cup of what I consider over-roasted coffee. But I'm not going to belittle them. Unless one is spending funds that should pay for rent, food, utilities, things like that to attend. Then there are bigger issues......

I would have gladly paid the $100 to attend. And for my other two traveling companions. But one is unable to take the time off (all vacation time has been reserved for wedding and honeymoon) and the other wouldn't go without her. Plus, since we broke the internet Monday night, by the time I could finally access AMC, it was sold out. So instead, I bought tickets for three consecutive showings at my local AMC starting at 7:00 pm.

Is anyone familiar with the theater that could offer some advice? Are there bad seats, or are all of the seats pretty decent? I have tix to the 7:00 ETX, but don't want to have paid that kind of money to get a really bad seat.

This type of stuff is all about the experience of being around like minded individuals. It's not so much about what you're getting for the money, it's an opportunity to make the night after the movie go on for just a little longer and be in a cool surrounding of Hollywood Studios, talk with others about the movie you all just saw and watch some kick fireworks. No ones going to this because of the launch bay or Star Tours.

You know, I was very okay with an $100 package when we first found out about it, but now I've got to openly eat some crow...a movie ticket, one ride, a museum and a fireworks show with NO free food is not worth that much money. $60-70? Maybe.

It made me think back to a similar event...the premier of the last Harry Potter movie. Do you guys remember what happened after the midnight showing at Universal? All the guests were escorted over to the recently opened Hogsmeade and had the place to themselves until 5 a.m., free of charge. How great it must have felt to experience that.

Now I know it's a little bit different over at Disney considering AMC isn't walking distance from DHS, but it's not like the midnight premiere people are getting to see Star Wars Land before anyone else. They're just getting to ride Star Tours like they probably do every couple weeks, and a museum that'll probably be open by the time the movie comes out.

Which company CARES about the guest experience in this example Hint it's NOT TWDC.

I can shed a little light on how events like this are more about the experience and less about the money it costs.

My family was at WDW when Star Trek VI : The Undiscovered Country had just opened. My mom and Dad took all of us too see it at DTD. It wasnt any special Disney event but there were a lot of Star Trek fans there (my family included). The entire theater was so explosive with emotion. From beginning to end it was Oohs and ahhs in every major scene. In one of the opening scenes when the camera panned away and it showed Sulu sitting in a captains chair, the crowd went wild and it just continued from there. In the final battle scene when the Enterprise destroyed the Klingon Bird-Of-Prey, the entire theater erupted with cheering and applause. Im not talking about people just clapping and cheering. It was people screaming with excitement, high-fiving and fists shaking in the air type reactions! I recall one guy yelled out something along the lines of "get that son of a b*tch, yaaaaaa!" It-was-AWESOME!!!!

That night is one of my favorite childhood memories of WDW. We still talk about how fun it was. If I could have another night like that with my family, especially for a premier like Star Wars, I would gladly pay the $100 for the EXPERIENCE and to share it with my family, especially at a place we love like WDW. Throw in the fact that Star Tours will have a Force Awakens scene added, its a done deal!

This can happen in any theater, you don't need to be at Disney to experience it. Case in point, BTTF around the world the other night. There was much chanting, clapping and fun in our local theater.

True, any theater could have a great crowd. But after the BTTF show in your theater, did you;

1. Leave the theater and go to a world class theme park?

2. Ride a great attraction that also just added a brand new feature involving said movie?

3. Exit the attraction and still be in the theme park with passionate, like minded individuals which created a great atmosphere?

4. Visit a brand new, extremely well themed store with new merchandise also based on the movie you just watched?

5. Exit that gift shop and have the ability to go back to the attraction to ride it again because the energy of everything around you just had you on a complete nerdgasm high?

Or......did you just go home?

I get your point, I honestly do, and Im not trying to be smart a**. Do I think that Disney cares about the overall guest experience as much as they do about the profits they will make? Absolutely not. But I can make lemonade out of those lemons. If the 3D ticket price is $17 at your average theater, I feel the additional $83 for the event is a fair value for a Star Wars nerd like myself considering the above numbered features. Would my wife agree? No way. Would she want to be there to be watch me nerd out and act like a kid in a candy store? Abso-friggin-lutely!

I went home after because I had done most of those other things before the movie, including a picture with Doc Brown who rode up in his Delorean. ;)

Btw, the movie will be at Disney Springs, not HS. ;)

You do have a valid point though.
