Disney's Hollywood Studios Name Change

Mark me down too. If they want to get rid of "Studios", just call it Disney's Hollywood Park or, if they must, Hollywood Adventure. I would imagine though, that they are wanting to get rid of Hollywood from the name altogether. Believe it or not that word is a bit of a political hot button to a certain segment of people these days (just read the comments section on Variety or Hollywood Reporter when a story is linked on a certain news aggregator site). Why those people would even want to go to a park based on movies that they hate makes no sense to me, but a lot of things don't make sense to me anymore.

But those names on that alleged survey are just hilariously awful.

Why not Disney's Movie Kingdom?

I do have to admit that what the park has become and what it will become is kind of hard to pin down to a simple marketable name, which goes to show how thematically lost it is....but surely there's something better than that list. I suppose Cinemagic would be ok, but even it seems a little esoteric for the average modern parkgoer. The term "cinema" is used much more widely in the UK than in the US.
Cause not everything is a movie. ToT and RnRC are not. It's a reach to say that The Muppets are strictly movie related, and those other "silly things" currently occupying the once great Sound Effects show and the TV show area. I don't think has anything to do with movies. It's just that I have so little interest in them that I haven't memorized what they are.
Disneys Entertainment World?

The names are embarrassingly bad. It's almost like they're trying to ferret our leaks or something, because there's really no way these names are being seriously considered.

They actually made a Twilight Zone movie, and Aerosmith has appeared in many films, including Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Wayne's World 2, and The Polar Express.
Alright if you want to knit pick, but, what part of either one was actually a movie. I'm talking about when it was created not later?

So I did a little digging. I typed each park name into my browser as a website to see what would show up. I also added Hollywood Adventure just in case. All of the ones I crossed out redirected me to my ISP, but disneyshollywoodstudios.com, disneycinemagicpark.com, and disneyhollywoodadventure.com appear to have been registered...

Doing a simple Domain name registry search, shows that the owner of disneycinemagicpark.com is some guy in
Fort Lauderdale, FL named Clifford Totten. Looks like a squatter.

The domain registrar for disneyhollywoodadventure.com is a private registrar...interesting...but could just mean a squatter put a nameguard on it.

For comparison...
disneyshollywood.com is registered by Disney Enterprises, Inc. and redirects to the Walt Disney World website...
The domain registrar for disneyshollywoodstudios.com is also Disney Enterprises, Inc. and redirects to the WDW website.

I don't think we can read too much into website domains being taken...yet.

I really don’t get why there is so much fondness for naming a park after a subdivision.
Doesn't matter. The word is associated with the famous Hollywood sign and by extension, idealistic Hollywood. It also becomes a play on Disneyland/Fantasyland/Tomorrowland/Adventureland/Frontierland. It summarizes that it's a park about idealistic Hollywood and some famous movie franchises without being generic like "Hollywood Adventure" would be. There are so many parks with the name "adventure." It's cliche'.

Is Hyperia even a word? I did a quick search and this was all I could find:

Not really. I think it's supposed to reference the original Hyperion Studios, where Mickey Mouse, the Silly Symphonies, Snow White, and most of Pinocchio were made. Although, I'm sure you know that already . But why be so subtle with the name? Just call it: "Poochy and Disney's Star Wars & Toy Story & Mickey & Minnie & Muppets & Possibly Indiana Jones & Rod Serling & Maybe Carsland if Toy Story Land flops & Stephen Tyler's Edited Hand Gesture & Knuckles, featuring Dante from the Knuckles May Knuckles 3 & Knuckles series Park"? I think that's a very appropriate name. Disney I won't charge you for rights, you can have it for free.

All of the ones I crossed out redirected me to my ISP, but disneyshollywoodstudios.com, disneycinemagicpark.com, and disneyhollywoodadventure.com appear to have been registered. These names also appear to be likely candidates. So obviously since Disney's Hollywood Studios is the current name, I would expect the new name to either be DISNEY CINEMAGIC PARK, or DISNEY HOLLYWOOD ADVENTURE.
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Disney Kaleidoscope Park
  • Disney Storyverse Park
  • Disney Hyperia Park
  • Disney Beyond Park
  • Disney Cinemagic Park ??????
  • Disney Legends Park
  • Disney XL Park
  • Disney Cinemagine Park
  • Disney Hollywood Adventure ??????

If the parks needs to be renamed again, I believe out of all Disney Hollywood Adventure is the best possible scenario. Though, I have to admit that I'm still very fond of Disney's MGM studios, maybe it's just because the first time I went to Disney, that was its name.
