I doubt the websites (Disneyworld.com) or their problems are connected to the WDW system. Only the reservation part of the site should be connected.lawyergirl77 said:LOL!
Just called Disney Dining and their computers are STILL down! The CM I spoke to said that they had actually started a pool for when the computers would be up and running again... Apparently "tomorrow" is in the lead!
She also said that it was a "Worldwide" (Read: Resort-wide) problem. So while the websites may be okay now, it seems as though they're the only things that are back to normal!
I don't know, usually when WDW's computers are down the Disney reservation site says it is down also. I am having no problems on disneyworld.com and was even able to check availability and book a room up until payment. Somehow I don’t think this problem is as big as your friend thinks.peter11435 said:I doubt the websites (Disneyworld.com) or their problems are connected to the WDW system. I tried the reservation site and it was working perfectly (got all the way up to payment with no problems). That's what I was referring to - my bad for not being more specific!!!peter11435 said:I doubt the websites (Disneyworld.com) or their problems are connected to the WDW system. As far as I know you pretty much summed it up.marni1971 said:The rides should run independently of the other systems; DACS (Digital Animatronic Control System) controls the ride systems and more; and at least in EPCOT originally each attraction has switched so each has it`s own version as a back up. The DACS control center at the MK is in the Utilidors near the HM, from what I`ve seen and heard it is like Fort Knox, and has multiple redundancies.
MACS (Monitoring and Control System) is at computer central is at Epcot is in Innoventions East, and is similarly protected. MACS has crashed once or twice, bringing the parks attractions literally to a halt, but with more localised control introduced over the years even that is becoming/has become a thing of the past.
The only thing that could bring the parks to a halt technically would be a resort wide power failure and all backups failing too at the same time. In theory.
Since this is all techie, please correct me if I`m wrong anywhere!
BREAKING NEWS: Worm hits systems at CNN
Tuesday, August 16 2005, 23:36 BST -- by James Welsh
A variation of the Zotob worm has hit systems at CNN in Atlanta and New York, affecting programming on CNN, CNN Headline News and CNN International.
The Situation Room from CNN's Washington, D.C. bureau was on air at the time that the network's systems were affected by the worm that causes infected Windows 2000 computers to continually reboot.
More soon.

...ABC News' Charlie Gibson discussed the situation on World News Tonight just now, and showed some of CNN's coverage. ABC reports the virus "paralyzed" work at Chrysler for a time today, and when correspondent David Muir reported Microsoft is urging people affected to contact the FBI, Gibson joked, "Should I contact the FBI because it certainly wiped out my computer?"
