It's that time again!! DisneyPrincess5's 4/30-5/8 Pre Trip Report!

Hi all!

Welcome to our April 30-May 8 Pre-Trip report!! It seems like yesterday our countdown was in the 200s but the time is almost here finally! I'm screeching with excitement!!

The travelers:

Liz (Me, 24)

Parent Educator, dog lover, Yankee Fan, and Disney is pretty much my life!! Some of my favorite attractions are Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (can’t wait to see the new queue!!), Toy Story Mania and Spaceship Earth.

Ryan (My boyfriend, 29)

Market Researcher, baseball player, also a HUGE Yankee and Disney fan!! Some of his faves include Rock n Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Spaceship Earth, Mickey’s Philharmagic, Toy Story Mania, and the Haunted Mansion.

Ahh the magic of Disney! We love it all-the music, movies, merchandise, promo videos, TV specials, and of course the World itself! Please meet Mickey and Minnie who live on our dresser:

We have a little bit of Disney magic in all rooms of our home and all aspects of our life. Just thinking about it makes us smile from ear to ear! With 56 days to go until the trip, we couldn’t be more thrilled!
Our past trips have been in January so May is new for us! We can’t wait to experience Disney at this time of year. We have THE BEST time-so much fun, many laughs and great memories and stories. We plan our trips like a year in advance so we always have it to look forward to!

Ok let’s discuss January…
Anyone who was there during that time last year probably knows why we are not returning in January. It was FAH-REEZING cold almost every day of our trip-something we were not exactly expecting! Seriously-what was up with that? We still had a great trip, but it definitely took something away from the fun while bundled up in winter coats, gloves, hats and scarves in central Florida, darting from one attraction to the next! We vowed to always go when it is a guarantee it will be warm from now on so we chose May! We usually stay at the Polynesian but our jaws hit the floor (I think I’m just getting over it) when we were told how much it would be to bunk there so we’re trying something different!

We live in southern Connecticut and had a brutal winter (like 2 feet of snow in a 3 week period!!) so knowing we’d be in Disney when it is warm seriously helped us through! Again, we have never been at this time before and are so excited to experience Disney in May and also to check out the Flower and Garden Festival! I love topiaries! The more photos I see and things I read about it are making me more excited!

Also as you know, Splash Mountain shuts down almost every January for an annual rehab so we have missed it on both of our trips! What the frig! We are soooo looking forward to riding it ohh lets say about a half a million times on this trip and check out the lap bars for ourselves. Um and just in case you see us on the news, Ryan said he was going to do something very bad to Mickey if Splash is closed or down during our trip…

Ok ok ok the trip:

Where:
The beautiful Dolphin Resort! Now- like I said, we usually stay at the Poly and yes, ok WE’RE SPOILED!! The theming is heavenly and we’re in love with the monorail-check out my signature! That narration makes me so happy. But we got an AWESOME deal at the Dolphin and although we know it is technically not a Disney resort, it is to us and the area is freaking awesome, not to mention that the resort is gorgeous. I stayed there long ago but this is a first for Ryan. Ahh I love that walk to Epcot along both the Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Club sides. Ryan’s favorite park is DHS so being right next door is fun.

The Plan:
We will be vacationing from Saturday 4/30 to Sunday 5/8 and we’re taking JetBlue. Our airport just opened a JetBlue terminal this past November so we wanted to give it a try! They've already changed our flight departure time once, only by a few minutes, but lets hope that doesnt happen again!

We're doing the Around the World On a Segway Tour at Epcot again, which we are SUPER excited about! Again, if you see us on the news about a Segway going ‘missing’ at Disney, it was Ryan!! We did this tour last trip and loved it so much despite the cold that we must do a re-do!

We park hop a lot-like A LOT, and always try to do at least morning EMH-sometimes we’re too drained to do the night EMH but we’re going to try!

We plan to visit Typhoon Lagoon which I haven’t been to in maaaany years and Ryan has never been at all-yay!

We’re going to squeeeeze in some time to go to DTD as well-haven’t been there in forever either!

We're praying for a soft opening of Star Tours!!

Also, we will be visiting Universal for a day to ride some old faves and check out Harry Potter!

Our traditions are to always visit the Magic Kingdom first and make Space Mountain our first ride of the trip and to eat at San Angel Inn at Mexico.

Dining Reservations:
Ohana dinner (A first for the both of us!!)
San Angel Inn lunch
Boma dinner
Chefs de France dinner
Crystal Palace lunch
Biergerten early dinner (Another first!)

And a side note-
I’m in the (EXTREMELY PAINFUL) process of having a tattoo removed on my left shoulder. While I’m receiving treatments, I cannot expose the tattoo to any natural or artificial sunlight so come time for our trip report, you may see me wearing a bandaid on that area. So while it would make for a cool story, no one cut me to get ahead of us on Toy Story Mania or at Cosmic Rays- the bandage is protecting the tattoo from the oh so powerful Florida sun :)

Thanks for reading everyone, and look for our Trip Report in May!

**Oh and today for my birthday, Ryan got us tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway in a few weeks!!! What an exciting prelude to our trip!! :sohappy:

Thanks for stopping by my PTR!

We'll be staying at the Dolphin, too, for the first time. We also got a great rate. My dream resort is BWI, but I think it will always be just that… in my dreams! Obviously, Dolphin was the next best thing. I'm looking forward to being able to walk to DHS and Epcot. :)

Enjoy your trip!

And thanks for stopping by mine!

Ahh the Dolphin is so lovely. If you're idea of a beautiful resort is the Boardwalk, you'll love the Dolphin! It's modern, yet comfortable and whimsical and professional yet very fun and relaxed. And the location is great of course!

You two are an adorable couple, even if I have to look past the Yankee gear.... ;)

I went to the world in May of 09 and it was BEAUTIFUL. It seriously has to be my favorite time of year to go there. It was not too hot, but hot enough where I felt I could enjoy a nice swim or getting wet on splash. And it wasn't busy at all. I loved it and hope you do too!!

Aww yay so glad you're into it-thank you!! Ugh yes January trips are so over. Congrats on your upcoming graduation! I graduated last May which now allows us more flexibility with travel so I understand! I've heard September and October are great times to go-you'll be in heaven compared to January.

You can even got out the ribs pads, then cut to circles in the front and put the pads over the circles and you know have a FOR REAL padded bra! Or you can cut two circles out and wear a bikini top everywhere.

Seriously dude I am sooooo money right now.

Definitely, even though crowds are really low, the past few years have been too cold for FL. And thank you! And I'll definitely take the 80s and 90s that I've heard for Sept/Oct anyday! And I know April/May will be good for you guys too :) Hopefully its not too crowded either for you guys, not sure how the crowds are that time of year, I've never been in May

Yay for your trip!! I am a January-goer, so I definitely can empathize with all your points. I can't wait to see how you like May in comparison. Poly is my home too, and it's such a bummer how much room rates have increased! The Dolphin looks very swanky and posh, yet comfortable. I'm sure you guys will have a fantastic time!

I'm so excited to read your TR! We went last May and loved it...loved it so much we are going again that time! Unfortunately not until later in May...the 17-24. But it sounds like you guys are going to have a fantastic time. Hopefully you get squeak out a little bit of the TR before I depart on my trip. Trip reports just make the time go by just a little quicker. Have fun!

You picked a great time of year to go! The nice thing is you should miss the Easter crowds given that you'll arrive basically the last day of the month.

May is such an awesome time to visit! Sadly I haven't visited in May since '04 but I look forward for the day we can go back that time of year. You have the Flower and Garden festival at Epcot and even if you don't visit the booths or events, Epcot looks GORGEOUS.

Hope you guys have a wonderful time! And I can't wait to read the report!

I can just feel your excitement for this trip. As so many others have mentioned, you are going to LOVE May! It's a great time of year to go. We stayed at the Swan once and loved it, so I'm thinking the Dolphin will be great.

I think we tour the parks in a very similar fashion... we're constantly park hopping and always fitting in early EMH, but sometimes we just don't make it for the extra magic hours at night. There's just something about that extra hour in the morning that really does add some magic to the parks.

I hope you have fun. And I'll keep my fingers crossed that Splash Mountain is up and running for your sake and Mickey's!
