Just booked my next visit to Anaheim today.
More ex-WDW Vets need to do the same and see what they are missing, especially THIS year !
:)

Finally booked my trip last week - can't wait! Having gone to DLR this past summer I was struck by just how very different an environment it is (I'd only been once before, back when DCA was still under construction). Definitely made me view the parks in a different light when I went back to WDW in December.

Definitely make a trip to Universal the next time you are in Orlando... or better yet, schedule a trip to Orlando for Universal and pop over to the World were if you kinda sorta squint you can see the ghost of EPCOT Center.

Then reality hits you in the jaw and you wake up.

Very true in my case.
I have not been back to WDW since experiencing the wonderful charm that is Disneyland, and California as a whole.
Used to go every year to Florida...but the last couple of years i have had absolutely NO interest in returning to WDW any time soon.
Disneyland has completely *spoiled* me and i have been thoroughly enjoying the refreshing change.

Glad you booked another trip as you do really good trip reports!

I loved Disneyland. Loved it. Can't wait to get back there. But I still like WDW. I have my own personal attachement to WDW even though I can see the slipping quality and see their faults and gladly call them out.

I think Tokyo would be the park that makes me REALLY see what the differences are.

Just my thoughts ...

I hear ya...
Although i have kind of turned my back to WDW over the last couple of years, i won*t ever completely ditch it.
Far too many personal connections to EPCOT Center to do that.
EPCOT will ALWAYS be my *home Park* regardless of the questionable changes it has been made to suffer through over the last decade or so.

I would someday love to visit Disneyland Paris...but DisneySea looks quite alluring too.

Yeah, the *ghost of EPCOT Center* indeed.

One of these days i will get to check out Universal.
Part of the reason i have dragged my feet somewhat is not being a big fan of *thrill rides*, and Uni seems to specialize in this department.
So anything overly intense or extreme i tend to shy away from as i can*t handle the sensations.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Indiana Jones Adventure is all the *thrill* i can take when it comes to speed and the dynamic forces.
Absolutely love both of those Attractions.

Call me a wimp...or a lightweight...but yeah.
Never even done *Space Mountain* on either coast.
It*s okay...i can hear people laughing.

:D

Yes

Tokyo DisneySea defined what a 21st century Disney Theme Park should strive to be in virtually every way. Yes, if you have a chance to, visit DisneySea!

I noticed the walls in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle feature the exact displays that were placed there for the 2004 refurbishment. The text even reads "....nearly 50 years later, Sleeping Beauty Castle....". Someone forgot to update the signs! :)

Ok, so I read the micechat update. Will the castle really be all covered up and getting painted when I go? I gotta say, that kind of sucks lol. The park did look pretty light on crowds though in the pictures so if it stays that way I won't mind ;)

Unfortunately, it probably will be covered up, with tarps. :( They did the same thing to the castle a decade ago.

Here's hoping. Just 2 weeks to go.

I gotta say @Mike S, your positive attitude has us Californians on the edge of our seats. You seem to be going for your first visit to Disneyland during the most aggressive rehab winter since the pre-50th winter of '05. And yet you still seem so excited and upbeat about it all.

I really hope your visit is wonderful, and you don't show up during a rare rainy stretch in an otherwise historic drought, or get a few crabby CM's in an otherwise professional and polished Cast, or get stuck on a rare Pirates of the Caribbean breakdown, or find a fly in your soup at the Blue Bayou, or any other random atrocities! I don't think you'll ever forgive us all after we've done nothing but tell you how charming and gorgeous and wonderfully operated the Anaheim parks are. And yet you may only find a series of construction walls and drained lagoons and cranky CM's having a bad day.

Now I've stressed myself out hoping your vacation goes well!

Thanks. After reading that list of things that could go wrong I hope you haven't jinxed my trip ;)

Regarding the Castle tarps....i would assume this time around they would use the new 'graphic overlay' ones as apposed to those striking plain versions.
I cannot recall over the last few years the last time i saw plain tarps being used in the Parks.
Today there always seems to be a neat custom version that sports a photographic graphic of the building being refurbed.
Makes it blend in rather nicely with the surroundings.

I'll be visiting the last week in April into early May.
Hoping i might be able to get a peek at the new overlay...or at least a spire or two.
