Interestingly none of those things mentioned in the DCA expansion include rivers, but guess what's present in the art?

With updated approvals, Disney California Adventure Park could be home to some of Disney’s most technologically advanced, immersive and cutting-edge entertainment, taking cues from these exciting lands and attractions around the globe for inspiration:
Zootopia's City Center rises as the background for a new possible DCA land.

Zootopia

Currently under construction at Shanghai Disneyland, guests will be invited to experience the mammalian metropolis of Zootopia “where anyone can be anything,” with a new major attraction that will seamlessly blend Disney storytelling and state-of-the-art technology to bring this fan-favorite movie and its characters to life.
Family of four enjoys Toy Story Land at Walt Disney World.

Toy Story Land

As part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, guests “shrink” to the size of a toy and join in the fun in this toy-filled land inspired by the “Toy Story” films. Guests can take a ride on Slinky Dog Dash, a roller coaster Andy assembled from his Mega Coaster Toy Kit. They can also join the little green aliens as they swirl about in their rocket ship toys in the Alien Swirling Saucers. The land also includes carnival games and a restaurant, Woody’s Lunch Box.

Tron roller coaster loops through wild neon lights

TRON

Currently open in Shanghai Disneyland and under construction at the Magic Kingdom Park in Florida, the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster invites guests to sync the pedal to the moto-metal while twisting and turning in the cyber-fi world in a high-speed race for survival.

Yeah, it’s not a third park.

And this talk about expanding across Disneyland Dr., aren’t there properties there?

Not really. It's all just surface parking lots for the most part. The plan itself is a sound one, and it makes a lot of sense to expand both parks into those surface lots.

We've been talking about expanding DCA into the Simba Lot here for many years. It's a favorite and obvious armchair Imagineering topic. Expanding Disneyland across Disneyland Drive behind Critter Country is really the news here, but that also makes sense especially if Splash Mountain is going away and that area is rethemed for both the new ride and the bridge that leads to the expansion pad.

But the land that these two big park expansion pads are on? They are just giant surface parking lots that have been ripe for the picking for 20 years.

Sounds great!! Stop messing with Disneyland proper and build these new attractions everywhere else at DLR. Win Win.

It looks like they may be doing something similar to the idea I posted a couple weeks ago except they want to do it in the Toy Story lot and not the Simba lot

Instead of answering with what I would WANT in the Simba Lot I’m going to be a little more realistic and pick from possible options that they would actually consider in the Simba Lot based on the IP they own and what they have built at parks around the world.

4. Mini World Show case or similar concept where locals can come spend money on food and alcohol. With a much smaller body of water or perhaps elaborate fountain in the middle. Think an outdoor Caruso designed mall meets World Showcase. Perhaps one or two rides as anchors. Or perhaps no rides at all. Depends on what the new ticket, pass system will be in the future.

In the Simba lot it looks like they have Neverland and rest of Fantasy Springs that they’re building at TDS which sounds great to me. I’ll take Pandora/ FOP Over Zootopia though. I’ll also pass on Toy Story land. Tron not being shoehorned into TL and anchoring some futuristic outdoor TL- like shopping town sounds much better.

Obviously this is all blue sky but I like the majority of what they presented.

Actually this looks to me like an expansion of the existing two parks using land around the hotels rather than an actual third gate. With that section in the Toy Story parking lot as new shopping area and not much "theme park", even though they say "could include".

Oh marketing...... I'm so very entertained that they made sure to use the word IMMERSIVE in there. 🤣 Although, should I be disturbed that the "New Kind of Disney Entertainment" is NOT immersive? 🧐

No, they are only talking about expanding into the existing parking lots or so it appears.

Ah, I looked at it wrong. I thought the pads were on the opposite side of the resort. So basically, Disneyland Hotel would have a birds eye view into it, if you have the right room. Definitely not large enough for a third gate I would think.

Only the pink building in that "New Kind of Disney Entertainment" area would be immersive as that would be a "Theme Park Experience".

I expect TRON to not keep the TRON theme, just the ride system. Looks like the track is going through a mountain? Is that what I’m looking at?

Honestly if they just drop Fantasy Springs into Disneyland that feels like a win for me. It’s a clone, but of rides on the other side of the world, and it’ll be Tokyo-level quality. 2 new E-tickets and a D.

The concept art doesn't have an accurate depiction of what is actually happening... it just meant to look "theme park-ish."
