Rumor Disneyland Tomorrowland Future - What to do?

We all know that Disney will have to do something with Tomorrowland soon, what do you want to see?

  • Demo it and start over with a new theme.

  • Demo it and start over with same theme.

  • Demo everything but Space Mountain and keep same theme.

  • Demo everything but Space Mountain but retheme the land.

  • Remove only certain attractions but keep the same theme.

  • Remove only certain attractions but retheme the land.

  • Go retro and bring back '67 Tomorrowland.

  • Don't touch Tomorrowland at all, leave everything the way it is, its my favorite land!

I would gut Tomorrowland all the way to the motorboat lagoon. Remove the Monorail from the park and utilize it for transportation. I would also tear down the Matterhorn and rebuild it on the Motorboat plot. It would be a bit larger, since it would be farther from the castle, but be built with almost the exact track layout though a smoother version. I agree that a large water feature would be nice but that is because that is what we are use to. If you let your imagination run wild perhaps something else would work. I would most likely keep the Space Mountain track but, depending on the new theme, I might tear down the exterior and incorporate the ride in some other manner. I LOVED 1967 Tomorrow land when we visited in 1970. It is time for a change. I love the look of Tron but, please, not the Tron coaster.

You do realize if the rumor is true its not going to be a direct clone right? I know you guys like to do a copy/paste type of visual but it doesn't work that way in real life. Just because Shanghai Tron has a show building xyz big doesn't mean they will use the same size or even the same configuration in DLR.

A coaster can have millions of configurations. That is the reason why a company like Vekoma can use the same coaster in many amusement parks around the world under different names and they all are similar but different experiences.

So just for fun lets say you're correct and they use the exact show building from Shanghai. It can go into Carousel Theater/Pizza Planet area and the outdoor portion can go over the Star Tours building similar to what others have said.

Point is there is plenty of room to place Tron and still have room left over for other stuff.

I know coasters can be reconfigured but it cost money and when has Disney reconfigured any rides in the past 10-20 years? SDMT, Little Mermaid, Tron at WDW appears to be a copy, Toy Story Midway Mania etc. Not one of these has much of a variation on the other except for the queue.

A Tron coaster could go threw existing buildings with new track, effects and reinforcements. It could be pretty cool riding pass Space Mountain.

The "insiders" also claim that the rocket ride was potentially going to be rebuilt where it used to be, but they just didn't do it. It just raises more questions as well as doubt that anything else they claim to be happening will actually happen.

I’m pretty sure that claim was more of a “too expensive for Project Stardust, it will have to wait for the full Tomorrowland redo”.

When was the last time Disney has gutted an entire land and started over in the last 10-20 years? They haven't, that's the point. This is not just a simple single attraction clone where you clone to save money, its a completely different thing all together. So while yes it'll cost money but if true it'll be rolled into the overall budget for the entire land redo. Which gives them a whole lot more flexibility in terms of attraction configuration.

I'm thinking that they demo everything but Space Mountain and they'll put Tron and Flight of Passage in there. Both of those rides will make their way onto the west coast eventually.

Over in the Florida forums, the MK Tron discussion veered into Disneyland territory. @marni1971 said Tron most likely would be in the Subs/Autopia space and NOT the Innoventions / Launch Bay space if he recalled correctly. Apparently something else is in mind for Launch Bay.

If this is the case, I wonder how far out the exterior track would reach? Just wrap around what was once the lagoon (might still be a lagoon)? Wrap further around the Buzz area? Wrap around the Buzz and Star Tours areas and cut in front of Space Mt? Wrap around the whole land!?

Interesting news.

So sounds like we may have a potential announcement for a TL redo coming to D23.

Wonder what could be coming to Innoventions? Wonder if they would consider bringing back a large scale AA show. I vaguely remember something about the theater still being able to rotate even after the recent refurb to become Launch Bay. Or I could be remembering that wrong. Anyways it'd be nice to have something large scale come to that area.

Well, I bet you it's a clone of Epcot's new Play Pavilion. Or, better known by its other name, IP-novations!

I could see that working just as well. My guess is wrap around the area where Buzz currently sits, with part going over the lagoon.

If they are able to put a dark ride in the footprint where the Launch Bay / Carousel is, I would hope they would build it to have the Asro-Orbiter spinner on top of it. With this layout you would look down the entrance from the hub, have one turn of the Tron coaster zipping above, and in the distance a new attraction with AO on top of it as the "weenie". But please, if there is ONE building that must be torn down, please let it be this one! Trying to shoehorn any decent attraction into that space has been a futile endeavor for 25+ years.

How would Tron look next to the Matterhorn and would that throw off the scale?
