Rumor Disneyland Tomorrowland Future - What to do?

We all know that Disney will have to do something with Tomorrowland soon, what do you want to see?

  • Demo it and start over with a new theme.

  • Demo it and start over with same theme.

  • Demo everything but Space Mountain and keep same theme.

  • Demo everything but Space Mountain but retheme the land.

  • Remove only certain attractions but keep the same theme.

  • Remove only certain attractions but retheme the land.

  • Go retro and bring back '67 Tomorrowland.

  • Don't touch Tomorrowland at all, leave everything the way it is, its my favorite land!

While it wouldn’t last long in working order (I’m looking at you luxo ) it would be a nice nod if the future Tomorrowland has a peoplemover that just shuttles back and forth. Even now it seems like it wouldn’t take much to have something going back and forth around the entrance.

Luxo was working this weekend when I was there. Because he is outdoors exposed I assume he is more susceptible to the elements. So likely they shut him down when its raining or even a potential for rain.

I would personally like some sort of transport (even if faux) on a second level to add some sort of kinetic energy to the land.

If the rumors are true, it would be on that side of the land that butts up against Main St. So yes likely it would be where Star Tours is located today.

Tron is way, way larger than anything in TL.

You're taking the entire footprint which includes the outdoor portions, not just the show building. I believe this was already discussed several pages ago.

The outdoor portion of the track can be reconfigured, and so can the show building for that matter. If it is coming to DL it won't be a direct clone, it'll be reconfigured to fit into TL.

Also the rumor is they would gut the entire land except Space Mountain. So they would have plenty of room to put Tron.

you don’t need to gut the entire land to add TRON... if it’s going to face the hub that takes over the Star Tours building and??? But would leave the back portion like subs and autopia. (Not saying they couldn’t go away for something else.... but how much money are we really expecting them to throw at this).

The "big boxy" show building/entrance would likely be in the footprint of where the Carousel building is. They disguised much larger showbuildings in Galaxy's Edge, so I would think they could make it nice enough aesthetically in TL.

In theory, only a section of the track would head towards the berm, probably one of the turns. This would likely be elevated a 2-3 stories, with the pedestrian entrance below it to enter the land. This mock had the right general idea I believe, though the exact size/layout of the showbuilding and track would be tweaked for DL's TL needs.

But they will also be wanting half the Autopia land for Frozen/Arendelle FL expansion, so might as well remove Autopia/Subs entirely. I think they would keep the lagoon (or at least some of it) for aesthetic reasons, especially if the north side of it can double as the port of Arendelle.

And again, you could theoretically have a small dark ride or two (or three) underneath the Tron coaster track where Buzz, Star Tours and Autopia loading currently reside, Toy Story Midway Mania style.

That would make sense.... assuming it’s easy to change the outdoor portion, you could run the outdoor portion through Tomorrowland people-mover style and keep some of the existing show buildings. Interesting

Right that is what I was thinking too.

Its a coaster, you can change a bunch of things with it. There is not a single configuration. That is why taking what is currently set in Shanghai is not accurate in trying say if it will or won't fit.

Exactly. That would be ideal. Or if not keeping existing show buildings, have new show buildings to better fit the new layout of the land / coaster.

It could be exactly, this, or it could be something shoehorned into the existing structures (sans carousel), or it could be something else entirely. Just going with what makes the most sense from an outsider perspective based on the rumors we have so far.

Ok, here's just the show building...

Exactly, that’s what I meant when I said that this would be what Rocket Rods was intending to be.

Now having said that, do you think the imagineers will think “having a track integrated within other attractions has been a big pain for the past few decades, let’s not do that again.” ?

You do realize if the rumor is true its not going to be a direct clone right? I know you guys like to do a copy/paste type of visual but it doesn't work that way in real life. Just because Shanghai Tron has a show building xyz big doesn't mean they will use the same size or even the same configuration in DLR.

A coaster can have millions of configurations. That is the reason why a company like Vekoma can use the same coaster in many amusement parks around the world under different names and they all are similar but different experiences.

So just for fun lets say you're correct and they use the exact show building from Shanghai. It can go into Carousel Theater/Pizza Planet area and the outdoor portion can go over the Star Tours building similar to what others have said.

Point is there is plenty of room to place Tron and still have room left over for other stuff.
