Rumor Disneyland Tomorrowland Future - What to do?

We all know that Disney will have to do something with Tomorrowland soon, what do you want to see?

  • Demo it and start over with a new theme.

  • Demo it and start over with same theme.

  • Demo everything but Space Mountain and keep same theme.

  • Demo everything but Space Mountain but retheme the land.

  • Remove only certain attractions but keep the same theme.

  • Remove only certain attractions but retheme the land.

  • Go retro and bring back '67 Tomorrowland.

  • Don't touch Tomorrowland at all, leave everything the way it is, its my favorite land!

Good ol’ Fab at the Rat Chat is saying construction of a new Tomorrowland will commence after Marvel opens,

And includes the Tron coaster - with its track reaching out to the hub side of the land!

I really don’t see how our Tomorrowland can sustain a Tron coaster without some sort of modification. I’m not opposed to the IP, in fact, I want it to come. The scale however would be completely off if it were copy and pasted in our park.

I don't see how that would work with the show building. Where are our photoshop experts that can insert the layout over the existing map of Disneyland?

It would most likely have to be a new Tron layout. Just like DL's Space Mountain had to be unique and more compact than WDW's.

Since we're on the subject, I'm happy to pull this out again :)

Seeing a coaster in the hub? Yuck. Although if it’s just a little glimpse and then it goes back into the tunnel and it’s tucked back a little further directly over the middle of the Buzz building sits now I imagine that’s not worse than the Astro Orbiter.

Im not surprised the bean counters didn’t want to move Astro Orbiter to its rightful spot during Project Stardust. I would have settled for them just getting rid of it. Anyway, I think they ll find the budget for it during a proper TL redo.

I’m not sure how much of these rumors I believe but it’s always fun to speculate.

Is that just show building or awning and exterior track too?

This includes the awning and outside track portion. The dimensions are somewhat backwards as I laid it out like it appeared on the map at Shanghai. The slightly narrower section on the right side is where the awning would be.

ok so here is the Shanghai Tron placed to size over Disneyland Tomorrowland.

If the rumor is true about starting from scratch and demolishing all the buildings except Space mountain is true then it shouldn't be a problem to add the coaster and then intertwine other attractions within the left over property. The only advantage to this is if adding Tron would add a new additional attraction to the count or end up reducing the count.

At the position that I placed it it would mean the final removal of Autopia. I don't count Star wars bay as loosing anything. They might be able to save Buzzlightyear show building if that section of the track happens to be high enough to ride over the roof line of Buzz. The same goes for the Star tours show building. The Galactic grill part of the building should really be removed and the eatery moved to the area where the magic eye theater is.

whatever they are doing if they do intend to bring Tron to Disneyland, there doesn't seem to be a logical way of using the same layout. The show building would need major alterations. They also would need to consider building part of it below ground if not it will tower over everything

now here is another possibility that would keep most of the lands show buildings in tact or open for future demo and rebuilt. The land would still loose Autopia and Nemo and modifications would need to be done to the monorail which might be interesting if the station gets added under the canopy.

These are the hourly capacities for the attractions that are either rumored to be, or theoretically on the chopping block for any sort of update..
Buzz Lightyear - 1,700
Star Tours - 1,450
Autopia - 2,800
Magic Eye Theater - 2,300
Nemo Subs - 850
Astro Orbiter - 650

Tron is apparently 3,500. If a similar version of Tron is coming with a similar hourly capacity, that means 6,250 worth of hourly capacity will have been lost in Tomorrowland. This number would just be in order to match the land’s capacity to what it currently is. I wonder how much this would be prioritized when pursuing this update.
