Disneyland Paris Half Marathon

According to posts on another sight, our bibs and the course map should be released today. After years of speculation and rumors about this race happening, the crazy registration process over a year ago, it's hard to believe that we are only 17 days away from the DLP half. Every time I visit WDW or DL the last thing I do the night before I go home is stop in front of the train station and take one last look down Main Street. I remember thinking at the end my WDW trip for the Dark Side half that the next time I look down Main Street, there will be a new castle at the end. It's almost time for that view.

If it is being done in Europe, I don't think it will be today (it's nearly 8 pm here); I looked about an hour or so ago and there was no new information.

I'm not surprised really. As long as the race goes off without any problems I'll be happy. I'm not expecting any of the typical Disney hype and I'm treating it as a local small scale race. Anything beyond that will just be a bonus.

I received an email with my bib number. A 7am start time? Thats late for a runDisney race, we get to sleep in!
The 7am start is so people can take the RER train to the start. Train service begins at 5am, so the first train would likely reach DLP at the end of the line around 5:45-6:00. US races that rely on public transportation to the start (Marine Corps Marathon in DC, for example) also have late-ish starts, since they're sort of at the mercy of the transit agencies

It's actually an early start by European standards, where most half/full marathons start around 10 or 11am. I think a lot of things that are standard at European races will surprise many of the Americans, who have come to expect the copy-and-paste format of the US runDisney races. Everything from the variety/quantity of official race merchandise, to on-course drink options, and average finish times will all be very different from "normal" for us, but will probably be quite similar to other races in Europe

I wonder if we'll get course maps any time soon...

Did anyone else get a call from DLP with an upgrade for their hotel? We were booked at Santa Fe and we were upgraded for free to the New York.
I have heard of that happening to people staying at Santa Fe. Something to do with the race course interfering with the resort. I'm staying at Cheyenne so no upgrade for me yet.

Hopefully we get the race course soon!

I just saw on the DLP website that there is no EMH at the Magic Kingdom on race day but there is at the Studios (which in the past has been incredibly rare) as from 9:00 - for those of you who have family members who aren't running, this may be a great chance for them to ride Ratatouille and/or Crush's Coaster with less wait (of course only if either are open during that hour!) Crush's Coaster has no fastpass line so any opportunity to do it with less of a wait is a good thing . There is fastpass for Ratatouille but when it first opened these went quickly; I don't know if much has changed since then.

I have a tip for all of you. If your credit card happens to get denied at a DLP shop, double check that they put it in the chip reader as opposed to swiping it if it has a chip. This was a big issue for us. And good luck everyone!

Passing along some information I have been reading. The course map is not going to be published due to security reasons. Water stops will be at 5k, 10k, and 15k.

Only 3 water stops for a half marathon? Seems low. I usually see at least that many on a 10k, never mind a 21k.
