Disneyland officially reopening April 30th

Indeed, a blanket “No.” to people coming from a state with a Governor who made a questionable decision is disparaging. Shall we say “no one from red states” or will we avoid saying the quiet part out loud?
You seem to have made up your mind to read too far into this. There's really no level on which they were pitting red states against CA, just that unnecessary interstate travel doesn't currently make sense when different states have, necessarily or otherwise, different levels of protective measures in place for their people. That's not an inherently red vs. blue conversation, lots of states have different measures in place and different levels of containment.

Shall I list the states without mask mandates?

If we wish to follow the science, go with an appropriate metric to determine access. Hospitalization and death rates are probably the most instructive since testing rates vary significantly (especially now that the vaccinated are unlikely to get tested if exposed to a Covid case, which will raise positivity rates).

Go right ahead - someone saying "people from states with fewer measures in place probably shouldn't be coming to California right now" is NOT the same as saying "People from Red States are icky and I hate them", which seems closer to what you're extrapolating.

If there's a better metric we can be going by then great, I'd like to see that happen, but there's just no need to go after that poster for saying something she didn't say.

She specifically mentioned lack of mask mandates. That is only red states and we all know that. Time to bow out. We both know we are right so we are treading water.

And if a blue state lifted their mask mandate today they'd fall under that same umbrella - correlation doesn't equal causation, dude, you're making this about something it's not.

I will! The jokes write themselves. Or I should say you do.

You’ve been talking about the economy and the livelihoods of CMs but didn’t even bother putting your money where your mouth is and buy a ticket for A Taste of Disney. Now the parks are reopening and you’re annoyed that Oregonians can’t come for now. I mean...

It was never about going to the park, and all about finding something to be outraged about. We all knew this was going to start happening as soon as Disney announced a reopening. Soon it will pivot again into complaints that Disney doesn't know how to handle reservations when the site crashes due to demand and yet so very few here will actually be trying to get tickets.

My, how much damage this has done to us.

Apparently none, if we are already planning out where the new parking structure and Wakanda ride will go.

My, how much damage this has done to us. This narrative that people from the state next door are somehow dirtier than your immediate neighbors is crazy, especially when those dirty people will still be on CA. They’ll just be in restaurants, malls, and the San Diego Zoo. And while you worry about those heathens, apparently the pure OC citizens have stopped wearing masks.

Anywho...

Amazing. You just made that all up in your mind. If you have even more free time on your hands, consider going into creative writing, as this post shows you might have some talent for it.

Didn’t you lump those in the current Republican Party together by calling them “racist,” “sexist,” and “misogynistic” a few weeks ago?

This response is so off that it doesn’t deserve a completely mature response, so I’ll play along for a little though. I understand that you’re disappointed because you live in Connecticut and therefore are considered one of the millions of other dirty non-Californians who won’t have the privilege of going to Walt’s Park like us cleaner Californians. I can’t imagine how that must feel. There’s nothing you can do about it though. We’ve already got those semi-dirty Orange County folks refusing to wear masks. We don’t need those filthy foreigners from the other 49 states and territories to add to that. Once you are deemed clean and fresh enough, you too will be like the elite, cleaner Californians and will be able to visit Walt’s Park.

Until then, keep washing your dirty hands and enjoy dirty Connecticut! Bye, heathen.

Thank you. I believe that poster is bothered by the fact that I’m not bothered by this temporary rule and taking their frustration out on me by creating imaginary assumptions.

And now for actual news--Park Hopping.

Disneyland is investigating the use of a system like WDW currently uses--you would make a reservation at the park you'd like to start at (and you need to go there first), but after a certain time, if capacity allows, you could go into the other park. It is anticipated this would be available in the near-term.

Discuss.

I don’t know how @raven24 has the patience to keep responding to those of you who have been complaining in circles for numerous pages, but I thank her for it. She’s not the only one irritated. 80% of this thread is the same posts over and over again about the apparent stupidity of limiting guests to Californians, and it’s pretty clearly only coming from those who A) Have the most obvious axe to grind against the governor and/or B) Live outside of California and feel hurt by this rule.

In response to person A, I don’t know what to say to you that will discourage you from repeating the same 5 things over and over again except that I hope the politics ban will be back soon. I do appreciate that your stated concern is not necessarily for for your own enjoyment, but for the economic well-being of your community. Then again, that comically large axe you’re grinding with Gavin’s name on it is a little distracting.

In response to person B, I empathize with you...to a point. It sucks that you’re not able to visit. But it’s a health measure out of abundance of caution, and even if it’s a stupid rule, it’s probably going to be gone before we know it. And I can’t completely sympathize with a reasoning that’s just about wanting to go to Disneyland as soon as possible after it opens following a pandemic, while other options are available to you.

I had time last night lol. But seriously, it really is irritating, especially when the reasons for complaining are not only obvious, but are on the more insignificant side.

It won’t be long before Californians will be enjoying the DLR with non residents. It’s already been a year, what’s another couple of months? And I agree with you, I really don’t feel bad that some people can’t visit Disneyland because they don’t live in California. But the time is coming.

Regarding the surrounding small businesses, how many times have we heard folks talking smack about them and holding their noses in the air? There’s no guarantee that people will support those businesses more when the parks re-open, California resident or not. We’ll have to wait and see.

So apparently the Blue Bayou will be reopening with booze. Limited selection of Beer, wine and a Hurricane signature cocktail. Note that it will not be reopening on 4/30. Article on rat chat. Won’t post the link here.

If they are committing to this, we can surmise that they have determined Pirates can open.
