Disneyland officially reopening April 30th

You don't even have to know the second stanza of verses to California, Here I Come. (It goes Where bowers, of flowers, bloom in the spring. Each morning, at dawning, birdies sing and everything.)
I only know that verse because the Red Car Trolley News Boys used to sing it from the Trolley at the beginning and ends of their sets. Miss them...

Sun-kissed miss said don't be late...

Those who who are so hurt and irritated by the fact that their Oregonian friends can’t visit Mickey quite yet would probably make an attempt.

This Californians Only rule is arbitrary and makes no sense. If anything, it's far safer to be around Oregonians than Californians.

Here is the latest science and hard data on that truth, as of March 30th.

Oregon = 39,019 Confirmed Cases Per 1 Million, 16.3% Population Fully Vaccinated
California = 92,800 Confirmed Cases Per 1 Million, 15.8% Population Fully Vaccinated

There's a bunch of other western states that are in the same boat, with lower case rates and higher vaccination rates than California. All of the states in the Western States Pact are in that category; scientifically healthier and more vaccinated than California. But technically Sacramento won't let them in.

You would think we'd all be used to Sacramento issuing arbitrary rules that prevent private industry from operating fully, but here we are. We're still dealing with new rules from Sacramento that make no sense and have no basis in science or data.

Don't you just love "attestation"???

That's what people are supposed to sign if getting the vaccine right now for medical reasons... there actually is an official LA County form. It's rather hard to find, and most people don't even know it exists. I and my friends had it during our Fauci Ouchies and no one even asked to see them. We threw them all away.

Let's review the facts, gang...

If you are from Oregon you may dine unmasked indoors at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney, but you may not enter the park to dine indoors at The Blue Bayou.

If you are from California, you may enter the park to dine indoors unmasked for 60 minutes or longer at The Blue Bayou, but you may not ride masked in a boat through that same building for 16 minutes on Pirates of the Caribbean.

And if you question any of that or disparage our brave California leaders who mandate it all, you are anti-science. Where bowers, of flowers, bloom in the spring! Each morning, at dawning, birdies sing and everything! :D

Are we shocked that this is the situation after over a year of closure?
No, especially since the extra unemployment is still in effect meaning they make more on unemployment than working. Of course there will someday be an end to unemployment extensions. And from what I understand, they can say no initially, but once the "forced" recalls happen if they say no they will be ineligible for unemployment unless certain other criteria are met.

Pirates ias actually about 13 minutes long If the boards are backed up, otherwise under 10 minutes. In fact there isn't a single ride that I know of that lasts longer than 15 minutes indoors in either park.

Even The indoor parts of Rise of the Resistance totals less than 15 minutes.

Bingo! Why didn't we think of that six months ago? Because sitting in a sealed plastic bubble with no formal HVAC or ventilation system is much safer than sitting in an indoor dining room with an HVAC system built to code.

Don't forget that the HVAC system built to code actual has filtering and fresh air requirements making them far safer than any of these stupid tents.

I don't think you get it. This isn't about Oregonians, this is about Californians who work for a living in the tourism industry.

You used to be a CM, so you were one of them. I'm not sure what your career is now or what industry you work in, but I take it that it's not private industry that relies on tourism to survive. Perhaps your current career is in government or academia that just gets endless free money from taxpayers who work for a living in productive industry like tourism and hospitality?

None of the rules keeping Oregonians out of Disneyland are based on current science and data. They actually fly in the face of the science and data, or ignore the science and data completely. These current rules restricting the tourism industry in California are arbitrary and continue to damage people's lives, their livelihoods, and often their small businesses they worked and dreamed for over a lifetime. That's not funny and it's not something to make fun of. It's an economic and psychological disaster for Californians. :(

Oh, trust me, I know. I ate in several of these restaurant bubble tents last winter in very hipster cities.

The air inside was uniformly stuffy and stale, and yet also cold and damp. And that's a really hard environmental combination to get down. But somehow they succeeded.

It was inherently more unsafe than eating in a normal restaurant dining room. But it satisfied the bureaucrats, and for some people who don't quite think things through it actually made them feel safer. They were actually less safe, but they felt safer, so that's all that mattered.

I don’t think you understand that I’m making fun of you and your tears for Oregonians. It’s not about Oregonians but that’s all you mention lol. I’m making fun of YOU, my guy.

Also, it’s TEMPORARY.

You may make fun of me as much as you want. There's a small group of people here that do, and some got downright mean and nasty about it in the past six months. But I just chuckled at them and kept on smiling. And posting. That won't change. :)

But when my point is regarding the livelihoods of hard working people in California and the economic and psychological destruction they have endured because their industries were shut down by Sacramento, it's not a good look to make fun of me.

But if you want to laugh at me for any other reason, go right ahead. I will often be laughing at myself right along with you.

As for it being "temporary", there is no end date and no information about when or how it ends. It's indefinite by its very definition. For businesses struggling to survive and hanging by a thread, that kind of uncertainty and further squashing of their business is disastrous. There are businesses right now in the Anaheim Resort District that might have barely survived had they been allowed to reopen in May, but if they have to wait until August (or October? December? No one knows) they won't make it.

Ah, so as long as something is temporary, it’s okay that it’s arbitrary.

I give you credit for not giving up the good fight here.

I will! The jokes write themselves. Or I should say you do.

You’ve been talking about the economy and the livelihoods of CMs but didn’t even bother putting your money where your mouth is and buy a ticket for A Taste of Disney. Now the parks are reopening and you’re annoyed that Oregonians can’t come for now. I mean...
