Well.....it was widely speculated that the first few weeks would be lower capacity to not overwhelm the cast and get a feel for things again. I just didn't think after only 3 days of being open to the public it would come so soon.

Then again, we don't know how many slots they added. Could be 10, could be 10,000. We really don't know.

Yeah I’d love to know how far below 25% they ve been the past few days. And I hope they figure out things like the mobile ordering dilemma in the next few weeks

So you need to buy the tickets first and then make a reservation? My collection of unused comp tickets aren't good aside from DCA (Thanks, Bob) which no one wants to go to, clearly. So, you buy a full price ticket for everyone in the party and then hope there's an available day to reserve to use these tickets? Just to clarify, you have to buy the tickets before making the reservation, which there is no guarantee of making?

No you can see the reservation calendar first.

Please help me understand. I'm an elderly man, a slow man. Please, post links. Help us to figure it out. I'm just trying to figure out a way to make a DL reservation and not have to schedule vacation time.

So @George Lucas on a Bench you do have to buy a ticket to make a reservation but you can see the reservation calendar without buying a ticket

I bought some pretty pricey tickets after noticing that next Monday had DL availability. Naturally, by the time I'd purchased the tickets, availability was DCA only. What a joke. No one wants to go there.

Presently, I'm scheduled for Monday the 17th. We're going to Disneyland!

$154 doesn't seem worth it, given the mask and social distancing requirements, ubiquitous plexiglass and dystopian loudspeaker messages about washing hands, and fact that Storybook Land Canal Boats isn't operating.

I'm a huge baby and am precious about my Disneyland experience. Anyone know when the mask requirement might be lifted?

Just caught this gem from MiceChat:

“Disneyland reopened Friday with a notable change on Main Street, U.S.A. that was easy one to miss in the bliss-fueled, heatwave-addled haze of returning to Disneyland after more than a year away. Main Street’s music loop has been updated to change from the standard background loop during the morning to a playlist of upbeat instrumental Disney songs as the park transitions toward closing hours.

The park’s last overhaul of its Main Street, U.S.A. music loop took place in early 2012 when the the loop was rearranged and re-recorded, retaining long-time favorites such as “Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis,” “In the Good Old Summer Time,” and “Alexander’s Ragtime Band.” At the time, Disney was met with controversy for including a recording of “Married Life” from Pixar’s “Up.” That controversy quickly passed when fans discovered the period-appropriate arrangement of the song fit in seamlessly with the rest of the turn-of-the-century tunes.

This new change, however, is a far cry from simply adding in one contemporary piece to the mix. Indeed, transitioning the background audio midday to a playlist exclusively comprised of instrumental Disney songs is a significant change that simply isn’t necessary or thematically appropriate. Disney has used playlists of Disney songs and other music on Main Street in the past but typically only for special events, New Year’s Eve parties, and Grad Nite events. This change to everyday park operation is definitely not the same as changing the music for special events. If Disneyland is about escapism into worlds real and imagined then Main Street, U.S.A., inspired by Walt Disney’s boyhood home of Marceline, Missouri, should reflect that — including with period-appropriate music. Hopefully Disney changes this so the Main Street music loop returns to all-day use. Save “Under the Sea” and “When You Wish Upon a Star” for the parade floats.

Below, a partial list of the new Disney song playlist:

  • Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo
  • Mickey Mouse Club March
  • It’s a Small World
  • When You Wish Upon A Star
  • Casey Jr.
  • Under the Sea
  • Saludos Amigos
  • Mary Poppins Medley
  • Heigh-Ho”
I think this would work for the last hour after a nighttime firework show, like a cool down soundtrack after fireworks. For just nighttime though? That's kind of sad, Main Street is a neutral zone that's supposed to be the opening and closing of Disneyland.

So now you hear popular Disney songs in Downtown Disney, the Espalande, during Nighttime Spectaculars, Daytime Shows, and now Main Street too?

That's too much. Heck have the jazz Disney songs on the Mark Twain at night or something, not Main Street.

Well, this has put a damper on my May 23 trip. I didn't have much choice in the dates (we wanted to see Avengers Campus too, and we wanted to use a multi-day ticket to keep costs as low as possible, so it locked us in an odd 2 week window), but I was looking forward to the parks being a little less crowd. I guess since they've already gotten their good publicity they don't need it.

I'm hoping that what we saw this opening weekend was really 15% capacity and that 25% capacity won't feel too much worse. (Also hoping they restrict capacity again come June for Avengers Campus... a fool can dream 😂).

Anyway, here's a daily update.

This’ slightly concerning. On Sunday, several attractions at the park had filled all of their available queueing area and were spilling out onto the street. At Indy, they would have the line cross the exit path and weave through the upper level of the Jungle Cruise queue. The lines for HM, Pirates, and the NOS churro cart nearly converged at one point. Oh, and Big Thunder was using the entirety of the extended queue near Zocalo. Albeit the lines moved fast.. but DL just doesn’t have the queue space to accommodate the limited attraction capacity + 6ft social distancing.

Main Street at DLP has separate AM and PM loops, as did WDW many years ago, but they're all period appropriate tracks.

This is just lame. More of the same tunes being played throughout the resort just makes the audio experience repetitive and less interesting.

Once again, it's another attempt to make the parks more "Disney", with the opposite result.

Looks like Disneyland as a one park ticket is gone again for May. Being that these went so fast (5 hours or so) maybe they didn’t add that many extra reservations per day? If I’m not mistaken they didn’t even announce that more reservations became available. Maybe because they were so few that it wasn’t even worth advertising.

Not soon enough. Im guessing the mask requirement stays through the end of the year. I’m spending a couple grand between the tickets/ hotel stay/ expenses but I haven’t done much of anything for a year so...

The trade off was supposed to be the low wait times but that appears to be in jeopardy now. If it’s over 85 degrees that day I’ll most likely reschedule my trip. I’m not dealing with the heat too.

Anyway, I completely understand you wanting to make rare Disneyland trips as perfect as they can be.
