It took me a while to think this way, but they don't want to lower volume, they just want to control/spread it out as much as they can.
Crowd control doesn't mean fewer overall crowds.

This isn’t bad at all. Essentially the old prices with additional control for Disney. They even kept the payment plans!

They could still keep attendance low, but that's where these passes end up in the sort of ... questionable grey area. They could go back to selling a million passes, but still make the reservations so hard to obtain that only a few of those million can go in the same pattern that they did before.
OR it could be an actual abandonment of the new strategy, and they will go back to filling up the park to capacity, stop building new attractions and make all their money on $27 popcorn buckets.

Really wish this had happened sooner. I’ve spend $$$ on tickets this month, and used them. Wish they were upgradable still.

A couple additional points from the fine print:
Park reservations are limited, and subject to availability, public health orders, and applicable pass blockout dates, and are not guaranteed for any specific dates or park.
Magic Key holders who have a park reservation for both theme parks may cross over and switch between parks on the same day beginning at 1:00 PM. Please check the Park Hours calendar and the Disneyland app for the most up-to-date Park Hopper hours, as they could start earlier at a later date, depending on the day and park.
Of note -
*The ability of Magic Key holders to make and hold park reservations will be impacted by the “no show” policy. Magic Key holders who are a “no show” for 3 reservations in a 90-day window will be unable to make new park reservations for 30 days. Existing park reservations at that time will not be cancelled. The 30-day period begins the day after the third “no-show,” and will continue even if the pass is upgraded to another pass during that time. A Magic Key holder who enters the designated park any time before closing on the day of the reservation is not considered a “no-show.” If the reservation is for both parks, only one park needs to be entered to avoid being a “no-show.” Magic Key holders who timely cancel a reservation are also not considered a “no-show.” Cancellation of a reservation must be done by 11:59 PM PT on the day before the reserved date. Rules and policies are subject to change without notice.

This is the exact same system that the cast members are having to deal with currently. Reservations are easy to obtain and book out quickly, but as plans change people have to trade dates and release reservations in hope of getting new ones.

So
Imagine- never going to Disneyland in the summer, any holiday, or weekend.
Enchant- drains your wallet a little bit more to get a few weekends more than you could imagine.
Believe - you'll never see Christmas or Thanksgiving but you will see Summer and a lot of weekends.
Dream - Dream that this never happened, this is not the price increase you were looking for.
