In this timeline Tokyo Disneyland would have opened up a few years prior, and that kept the formula of a traditional Magic Kingdom so to speak...so for Disneyland Madrid I would probably keep it somewhat familiar, Maybe reorganize the layouts from other Magic Kingdoms, but lands in the style of Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and some sort of Toontown or other sublands would be a good start...then theoretically in this timeline the 2nd park would open 10-20 years down the line, and step more outside the box in terms of theme.

Hmmm I would agree to an element of formula basics. I would pull from European culture a bit. But that’s also difficultly to this.. we (as in America) is a romance culture based on Europe so it’s hard to make something uniquely Spain than it is to making something China or japan infused.

So maybe the answer is to flip the castle park themes from the European perspective? :bookworm:

Maybe a Medieval European Main Street...An American romanticized "Fantasyland" of sorts. An early European countryside, or a Australian Colony similar to the "settlers" of Frontierland. Instead of a African/Polynesia/Caribbean dominated Adventureland, we focus on South America and Asia. Tomorrowland could change up a bit as well - not a Discoveryland though, something different.

I'm not saying go with these themes, but I do think it'd be cool to start looking outside the box of what a American Disney park is, while keeping similar styles lands via landscape and perception. :) Keep it similar to what the bare bones of a castle park are to guests, and make it European.

That would be a great idea, I think it would need more expirementjng with and exploring the idea but that could work.... or soemthing like that. Make the castle blend into Main Street. So you have castle walls around that region like an old castle town or something.

I think this could only work in Europe.... Just because that's a "Turn of the Century" type period for them.... or maybe even Edwardian "Mary Poppins" era or something. - something classic for Europe.

I think it could be cool to somehow go from Medieval Europe... to a small Christopher Columbus tie in (Maybe seeing the three ships docked near the castle), and then end up in America past a huge body of water on the other side of the castle. :bookworm:

I feel like I need to think about this more/draw it out a bit :bored:

I think your right. We need to explore a few ideas and not pick one now and run with it.

I really like all of those ideas, specially the Medieval Main Street and a more Asian/South American based Adventureland! Also I think that since the park would be in Spain, maybe a Latin American Colony like Río de la Plata or Nueva España instead of an Australian Colony could work for Frontierland, something based on El Zorro or the Conquest could fit there.
I think Don Quijote should totally be represented in the park!

I don't know how - I think we can do something grand rather than a dark ride - and it would be really fun. Like a Don Quijote take on Splash Mountain or Pirates or something.
I agree, that we can come up with a bigger and greater attraction. Don Quijote could be our park’s Haunted Mansion or Pirates

I like this. I think South America should be frontier land because that was the frontier for them while Asian/Southwest was adventure for Spain

I completely agree with you, and the purpose/definition of the lands makes it better. On thing that I would recommend is referring to it as Hispanoamerica instead of South America, as that includes Mexico and excludes Brazil. :D

Here's what I came up with for the first concept from what we've talked about... I'll see if I can mess around with some other options to mix things up. :bookworm:

Another thought: What if Tomorrowland was more set to a futuristic Hollywood-ish type studio lot? Mixing MGM with Steampunk - or 1950's "future that never was" settings?

This could be a way to include mixing futuristic IP universes in a more sensical way.... Like mixing Star Wars and Buzz Lighyear in the same land - but actually cohesive. :D

I like these ideas! Really unique and interesting stuff! I'd be curious how and american fantasyland would work since fantasyland traditionally has a lot of Disney dark rides, but so few disney movies are set in america. It would lead to some interesting themeing and creative challenges. Unless of course the American Fantasyland is a Hollywoodland/Sunset boulevard type thing

Also, Fronteirland isn't really based on the American wild west as it is based on westerns and cowboy films. Its a land based more on the film genre than the history. Davy Crockett and the Disney Nature series especially were big hits for Disney at the time and inspired that land. What film genres are popular in Spain? Especially with Disney films.

Maybe have a land themed to the snowy, French mountain/countryside/forest seen in Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty.

I really like the idea of a Steampunk-ish Hollywood/Europe for the park’s Tomorrowland, as you said it would be a great way to include some IP. And maybe another part of Tomorrowland could be the Da Vinci/Renaissance area, where we could have the Da Vinci Space Mountain you mentioned (Maybe set it around Galileo?), a weird Da Vinci inspired Autopia, and maybe Dinosaur could fit better here for some time traveling extravaganza. And where Dinosaur was set in the second proposal (which I liked a lot) there could be some Aztec based attraction as in your first proposal?

You make a great point Pi!

Couldn't find anything on google for overall movie preferences in Spain, though UK and France both have a thing for Star Wars, Toy Story, Snow White, The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, and a few other animated movies.

I feel like Da Vinci/ Galileo would be an amazing transition to Fantasyland! :D

Dinosaur could work interestingly there! I'd love to see a version played out. I only put Dinosaur in the Aztec area originally because of the first concept art for the attraction was set around that :hilarious:

I think the Da Vinci/Renaissance area could be a nice twist though! Maybe a retro take on the Timekeeper.... I really like where this is going. :D

I didn’t know of that concept, we should definitely keep Dinosaur in the Aztec Temple! It sounds like something super fun. And I believe that the meteorite that caused the extinction of the Dionsaurs fell in La Peninsula de Yucatán, where the Mayas lived, so maybe instead of an Aztec it could be a Mayan Temple?

Also, I like the idea of using the Timekeeper, and maybe the wacky time travel ride could be like the one that was proposed for WESTCOT?

And I agree with you, I like how the park is shaping up! :D
