Is Mathew Gottula at all reliable as far as rumors go?
Typically he is right. He doesn't throw them out there very often so when he does, it's usually pretty solid.

I guess we'll find out. But if this turns out to be a strong rumor (and then true), does that mean all of the track is going away? As in the idea of a new people mover will be a extinct thing of the past? I was hoping that at some point in the future, Innoventions would be used as a new queue and the people mover tracks would get a proper renovation. I guess not :(

I mean, they're going to need all the extended queuing they can get, now that it'll be Hyperspace Mountain for the next ten years.

This could be, and should be, true, and it would be great news. Disney is building a 14 acre star wars land, a 6500 car parking garage and new resort entrance, and starting work on marvel and a hotel, while pixar pier continues its construction, and areas within disneyland are retooled in anticipation of star wars. The money is clearly there. Adventureland has had a lot of changes completed or announced. Frontierland obviously has seen dramatic changes that took about a year. Fantasyland has seen the reconstruction of dumbo and the construction of a new shaded queue structure, while small world's mall, queue, and parade route were reworked to include more shade. Planters in fantasyland were narrowed to make midways larger. Main street's tracks were redone. The only major land left untouched is tomorrowland.

Space mountain getting an enclosed queue is clearly in line with the other subtle changes they are pushing through to improve guest comfort (dumbo, small world).
Removing the people mover is one thing I didn't expect, but now that it's in the rumor mill, makes all the sense in the world. it would free up the entrance area. its foundations between star tours and buzz could be converted to midway or that stretch could be boulevarded with planters, light fixtures, and props running toward the old star jets platform.
If they go this far, and there were already rumors about removing the rocks, why stop here? why not demolish the peoplemover/astro jets platform in the middle of the land and relocate astro orbiter before star wars: galaxy's edge opens? If ever there was a time to do it, it's now. Why leave the dangerous bottleneck at its entrance? Why leave the peoplemover tracks rotting in plain sight, when we know, as we have seen across disneyland and dca and the resort at large, that disney is really good at minimally invasive surgery of its parks, closing certain areas at a time for renovations?
Surely they'll get around to it by 2025 for the 70th or 2030 for the 75th if not this fall, so we won't get stuck with astro being in the hub forever. It would take longer to dismantle and rebuild astro orbiter than it did for dumbo because they'd have to build a new foundation (ideally where the platform is in the middle of the land), but anything is possible.

The more aggressive the tomorrowland changes, the better. And they would just improve the land temporarily, so that we aren't in as dire a need for an aggressive overhaul. I'm confident they'll still give it drastic reconstructive surgery in the next decade.

The extended queue for the magic eye theater should also be removed. It is never used and is just there taking up space that could be used for guest flow.

When you have an eatery on one side that doesn’t have a restroom or at least a hand wash and are forced to find a way past crowds to the opposite side of the area it could be a nightmare.

Between the stupid cosmic ray water ball and this Unused queue space a once opened area is a bottleneck nightmare

Comic Ray? Waves.

We’ll see how this plays out but I expect it just to be a blacklist room with some fancy space wallpaper ala Star Tours extended queue.

Figured that’s what the water ball was called. Google map has it marked as Cosmic Ray

Yeah it was suppose to say Cosmic Waves. Big fingers and auto correct issues.

Removing the People Mover track seems like a short sighted solution.

Why not spend the money to bring the track up to code, and find a way to bring back a People Mover like ride? We can only speculate at the numbers, but putting another ride up there could do wonders for adding capacity to the park, and bringing some kinetic energy back to the land.

I think it’s meant to be a short term solution for improved crowd flow until they eventually renovate TL. Hopefully then they do as you say and figure out how to bring back some kinetic energy to the land. I’d love to see What they can do from scratch for a modern people mover.

I'm sure they have crowd flow in mind, but I don't know how much use it will be to remove the Peoplemover track. It's not the track that impedes crowd dynamics as much as the army of strollers that are stationed underneath. Those strollers will have to park somewhere, and while I vote for the dumpster, unless there's a better place for them I don't think removing the track along Tomorrowland's entry lane will make much difference.

The Rocket Jets structure is rumored be removed as well. Hopefully they move those ugly French fry rocks too. I won’t hold my breath on the Astro Orbiter being relocated until TL is closed and renovated.

Maybe that is what they plan on doing with the old Peoplemover load/unload building, turn part of it into stroller parking. Right now its only used for TomorrowLanding gift shop.

I certainly hope so. Those ideas would go a long way to making a fluid transition into Tomorrowland. I'm definitely in the chorus that calls for the Rocket Jets return to their original location.

They totally destroyed that area when they built the Magic Eye Theater. One of the worst decisions ever made at Disneyland IMO. That and centering the Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland's entrance.

What should happen-

Pizza Port should close, and the space should be used as an attraction- like it used to be.

The Space Mountain entrance needs to either move back to it's original location, or to where the Starcade currently sits.

The current Space Mountain entrance and Fastpass distribution area should be converted back into a food service location.

Magic Eye Theater needs to be opened up and used as either live entertainment venue, food service seating, and/or stroller parking to help keep the strollers out of the walkways, freeing up space in Tomorrowland.

Innoventions needs to be demolished and turned into an actual E ticket attraction- something new, unique, unexpected, and NOT a generic roller coaster themed to "Tron" like what Shanghai has. I'm sure that ride is amazing, but I'd much rather have something new and unseen put in that location.

The moon rocks need to go.

Honda's awful additions to the Autopia should be scrapped, the track should be shortened, new electric vehicles should be implemented, and actual indoor segments with cool show scenes should be constructed to help the ride appeal to adults, and not just young kids.

IF they are not going to put the rockets back on the platform they better not consider putting it on space mountain deck above the magic eye theater like rumored once.

If they remove the people movers platform then it would open up a huge piece of land from there to the innoventions building. Pick a center point build a slightly elevated platform and put the rockets there if needed.

Create wide walkways around this circular attraction for crowd flow

What if they did both?

Move the SM queue into Star Traders. Then move the Rockets to the SM deck using the outdoor SM queue as the new Rockets queue. This would free up a tremendous amount of space with the removal of PeopleMover tracks and old platform.

That'd ruin the sightline by blocking space mountain. Itd also likely hurt the forced perspective and make space mountain look smaller. I'd rather have them move the Astro orbitor back to it's old place, just ground level with the removal of the people mover platform.
