News Disneyland Files Permit to Renovate Upper Level of Starcade at Space Mountain

"Disneyland has just filed a permit to renovate the existing interior space of the second level of the former Starcade at Space Mountain. This 5,000 sq ft area will become indoor air-conditioned queue space for the attraction, and the existing roof deck queue will be modified to feed into the indoor area."

Good idea. They should level the roof and 3D theater and free up some...space. Space Mountain at DL isn't as imposing as the other ones because it's blocked by structures.

Hmmm. And replace it with what? I guess this could be another crowd flow improvement in preparation for SWL but at this point why not wait to close the land and overhaul the whole damn land?

Rumors of the rocks being removed from the entrance have been around since they redid the Adventureland shops so I definitely would believe they're interested in removing the People Mover tracks as well. With Star Wars in Galaxy's Edge, Marvel in DCA, and these small changes coming to Tomorrowland, I am excited for the future of Tomorrowland.

The track is really ugly. I remember there was one spot near the Buzz Lightyear extended line where a tree had grown into the track and taken a chunk out of it. Or something.

Unless they’re going to put up a new track for a future attraction then why even bother messing with it. At least it creates shade and is a conversation piece about DL history. Remove the french fry rocks which block the entrance and add nothing to the land.

Here's a thought: Why don't they just repaint the Peoplemover tracks and park stationary Peoplemover trains here and there along the route? Since the ride broke down a lot anyway, they'll have recreated 50% of the experience of having Peoplemover exist again. They could have Star Wars character mannequins in the trains as stranded guests.
