Disneyland Fantasmic Dragon Engulfed in Flames

Unless they rid of Tangled/Rapunzel and Flynn, I don't see it happening tbh. Their additional was overall positive plus the new projections was made for the floating lanterns, especially the projections on the tree that feature their floating lantern.

Maybe we can hope for a re-recording at least lol?
While true, at the same time I could also see it being something easily reverted back if they so choose to.

What’s crazy is that this is going to be the 3rd version of Fantasmic that we receive.. I really don’t know to what extent the overall show is expected to change, it could really be minimal or drastic..

I was never the biggest fan of 2.0, so in a weird turn of events, the Murphy incident is giving them a rare opportunity to make changes that would have otherwise never happened because of its consistent popularity and relative newness of the last updates.

Also have to add — it will be a big year once again for the west side of the park. Returning Fantasmic and TBA opening.

The dragon is such an important "wow" moment to Fantasmic and it would feel far less exciting without it. I'm hopeful the company's noncommittal response is indicative of the dragon coming but needing more time.

After all, Murphy took several months beyond its intended premiere to get working and still had hiccups past that. I also doubt they would want the press of having a new dragon that fails like Murphy did not long after it debuted.

I'll choose to be optimistic, but hopefully construction on the island will show *something* is happening. While they're at it, why don't they ditch the non-starter Aladdin sequences? The magic carpet illusion never worked and you can barely see the people on the carpet to begin with. The Friend Like Me sequence is repetitive and unnecessary once they go back to the original World of Color across the way.

The posts suggests no Murphy, not no dragon/Maleficent.

MiceChat is reporting, according to a memo sent to cast, there will be no physical dragon.

Now whether that is temporary or permanent is anyone’s guess, but it seems implied a new climax is coming reworked without a dragon.

My only hope is that they just mean “for now” …

The one I posted didn’t say that. Hm. We’ll just have to wait and see what they announce/come up with.

You guys did not seriously think Disney was going to pay to replace it did you?
As if they didn't pay for it in the first place. And then to repair it after the first major malfunction. And then the next.

People seem to be forgetting that Murphy was a plussing project - they had a working Dragon that for years people considered it perfectly fine. They spent the money on Murphy because they wanted to do something nice to improve the show.

The cynicism with which people immediately leapt to the conclusion that she'd never, ever return is just exhausting. Disney knows how big a deal the Dragon is to Fantasmic. But there was a LOT of damage, and not just to the Dragon, which is absolutely scrapped.

Building a new dragon is a relatively simple project relative to reclaiming and restoring the pit under the stage after the damage it sustained. But you can't really move too far forward on a new figure until the pit is taken care of.

So......is there still clean up to do on TSI???

Or is DL just dragging its feat with F! B Mode?

This is shocking! So will DL look at MSEP/PTN now?

Or if they want nothing to do with them.......Move them to WDW where they actually need it!!!!!!!

"More exciting entertainment offerings for our guests later this year", could they do a holiday run of MSEP or PTN or too late for it?

DL teased Summer Entertainment in place of F! and the Jazz Band just started, after DL's Birthday no less! If DL is this slow, we'll just have Hallowwen Screams, ACF and Believe I fear....

It may be exhausting, but clearly realistic.

Like the fountain in Enchanted Tiki Room at WDW. Very simple and low cost, but it never made it back when the original show did.

They will be able to market something new for a finale this way. That Murphy version of the show should never be expected again because you will likely be disappointed.

The company is in a mich leaner cash flow situation climate than before.

Just like it was back in the Pressler era. Cut corners everywhere. Neglect maintenance. Raise prices. Guests get hurt or killed.
Good times.

It makes you wonder why people go to this place. Can 60K people a day be this blind to the Emperor with no clothes?

I think nostalgia and tradition are very strong in social creatures.
(DL def does not get close to 60,000 people on most days)

With guests evidence of the numbers dropping and the ease of going into their pockets after the thrill of getting there and being Marketed to.
