Disneyland Fantasmic Dragon Engulfed in Flames

Said pyro dragon was at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, not at Hollywood Studios in Orlando, FL, hence the thread title and the thread location: the Disneyland forum.

Any discussion about a night parade at WDW or its version of Fantasmic! simply doesn’t belong in this thread.

Owned by the same theme park operating company. Maybe you are not aware of the pyro accident at WDW.

A Pyro accident of that nature between the two makes it pretty easy to discuss such things and how they effect entertainment in the domestic parks.

I am sorry that the conversation is not going how you would like it to in the thread.

Nothing at WDW was affected in the 18 months DL Fantasmic was closed in 2016 & 2017. So common sense would tell us the same would be true now.
Seems to me that MSEP had to go back to DL in 2017 because F!2.0 wasn't going to be ready till mid summer(because of SWGE Construction) and PTN couldn't last past Christmas 2016?

Has nothing to so with thread now that we know it's not coming to temporarily replace Fantasmic at DL.
I was replying to a post about WDW not being effected during the 2016-2017 downtime but MSEP was one thing that was effected during the downtime as it moved in 2016 and started its DL run early 2017 with Fantasmic returning in July & MSEP going back to hiatus in August.

Not sure, the flames also haven’t returned to Wondrous Journeys.
If so, then Halloween Screams will return without flames this year, unless they can fix the damage of Fantasmic fire this Halloween.

Wondrous Journeys performance this year only shown until August 31 and would not return until early next year. The day of F! incident (April 22 at 9:30 pm performance, F! second showing was at 10:15 pm) was arguably the last time this year where WJ used fire effect since the show's premiere last January.

I have seen multiple sources claiming Famtasmic will not return until Spring 2024. Also stating that the ending will change and Maleficient will not be in its physical form when the show returns.

To me this just implies they're going to bring back the original B-mode Malificient where she stays on her lift. Probably redo the sequence where she first appears and move it to the battle with Mickey. Maybe add a new villian to take over where Malificient first appears.

Maybe add more effects to the stage to cover the fact that she's on a lift for about 30 secs while Mickey shoots some pyro at her (wonder if they'll keep this considering the hazards) or bring back the sword.

Unless we see some major stage construction soon, doubt it'll be anymore significant.

Very sad though. The icon and artwork of F! has featured Mickey fighting the dragon since its premiere, and with that aspect not returning turns a whole new page with the show..

I atleast am hoping they do some fan service and restore some moments from the original show in lieu of the dragon. Peter Pan on the Columbia and the original singing vocals come to mind..

I really find it hard to believe there isn’t going to be any form of dragon. Of course this isn’t a detailed press release or anything, and nothing is really known about what they have in store, but I’m really struggling to see any vision of Fantasmic without a dragon. In that case, I’d rather them just retire the show completely.

In the end, I hope the voice of reason prevails and we eventually get a full blown Murphy back. I could see there being a lot of backlash if bad decisions are made.

Agreed. Bring Pan back, please.

I’m hoping they’ll be even slightly influenced by the Disneyland fanbase and consider it going into this and do it some justice.

Unless they rid of Tangled/Rapunzel and Flynn, I don't see it happening tbh. Their addition was overall positive plus the new projections was made for the floating lanterns, especially the projections on the tree that feature their floating lantern.

Maybe we can hope for a re-recording at least lol?
