So if all of those things have been done/seen before what would be the point of doing them again?

Look, I'll be the first one to say that the show wasn't anything to write home about if it sucks (I haven't seen it yet). However, Disney has a long history of producing this kind of TV programming beginning with the slapdash opening day broadcast in 1955 all the way to those boring holiday parade broadcasts on Christmas morning. One of the most disappointing park specials ever produced was the WDW Space Mountain special in 1975. I remember suffering through cornball comedy and cheesy musical numbers featuring Lucy Arnaz (of all people) as a kid only to get a tiny glimpse of the ride in final few minutes of the program. Here it is in case you've never seen it:

The Epcot opening special was also cheesy in a good way though

You'd think they'd at least brought out Shakira for "Try Everything" for Zootopia but no....They just show the Skunk Butt Rug clip...Disney ladies and gentlemen!
Well at least the scene was extended. But I gotta admit, I was expecting Ginnifer Goodwin to announce Shakira performing "Try Everything" for the film.

Try using the Hola browser extension to visit ABC's website. It will make it think you're American and allow you to watch the stream.

OK, looks like the extension works fine, but I'll have to wait 'til 7 days after the broadcast to watch 'without logging in'. Ho hum! That's next Sunday's viewing sorted then :)

Might as well lower your hopes, just in case. As much as I love Disney they have lost their way on synergy as of late.
Disney hasn't done anything this special for WDW or Disneyland since the 100 Years Of Magic Celebration or the 25th Anniversary of WDW.

I feel the same way. If I want to read about how much someone dislikes something about Disneyland and how Walt would have done it better I'll go to MiceChat.
I often feel this way too. I think it might be because people on Disney theme park boards, tend to be less "Disney" fans, and more theme park fans, and have little patience for the "Disney" part squirming it's way into the theme parks.

I enjoyed the 60 special very much. I was surprised at some of the scantily clad dancers and go-go girls in several of the numbers, but overall it was a fun show. Sort of a big, splashy variety show like TV used to have in the 1960's, but with some really nice Walt touches and a surprising amount of Disneyland references.

I thought Helen Mirren was adorable in her ears, and a perfectly classy person to talk about Walt and why he built the park.

I was thinking about you and your pizza last night, TP lol
That has everything to do with my fondness for you, and nothing to do with the fact that I haven't eaten carbs in the last 5 weeks ;)

Have made it through the first hour so far. Overall, a bit hit and miss. Good up through Josh Olaf and so so after that though I did enjoy the in-park performances...which is what I was hoping for more of versus Dolby Theater stuff. So verdict at halftime...based on what I expected, enjoying it a bit more than I thought but still with flaws.

All because she did a voice of a Hyena this gives her credit...*facepalm*..

To be fair, she was also the octopus in "Toy Story 3", so she's got at least two Disney characters under her belt.

My overall impression is it was more watchable than the last few years of the Christmas morning parade & performances. I did not carry a preconceived notion that this show was going to be about the history & evolution of Disneyland and expected a large array of performances. There were a few musical acts I could've done without.
Since this was taped & edited... I also didn't like how some of the orchestral works were cut up so it could be shoe-horned into the 2 hours.

If your Disney geek-dom really really wants to learn more about Disneyland and its history.... may I recommend a good book. Such as 'Walt Disney: an American Original' or the Disneyland Encyclopedia. There are others for sure.
