I counted five musical performances in the park...

Yup, and at least as many (more actually) weren't in the park - the majority of the songs were filmed in a theater in Hollywood, and most of the songs had no actual park connection, other than being Disney songs. Two of the songs weren't even Disney songs (and both of those were performed in-park).

A Disneyland special filmed in a theater in Hollywood. I still can't figure it out.

I had no idea the male Voice of Disneyland and the female Voice of DCA were married. How cute is that?

Was this news to folks? Usually I'm all over useless trivia like that, but I had never heard that before.

Yes! I think DPB did an interview with them awhile back. They're adorable. They also record everything for the parks at their own home. Talk about a great gig!

That's fair. It was more like a D23 (general Disney) keynote, masquerading as a Wonderful World of Disney special. I can see how that was off putting and weird depending on what people wanted out of it.

I was rather happy because I was surprised with the amount of info we got out of something I thought was going to be a giant infomercial. Well, it was a giant infomercial... but I'm surprised new information came out of it.

Idina did have a fan base before Frozen and a well rounded resume from stage, song, and screen... but that song & movie has given her a superstar status and spurred her most successfully released single album, Holiday Wishes, critical acclaim for her Broadway performance of IF/Then, and she recently completed her first global concert tour in 2015. She was also honored with the Billboard award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year for 2014.

So as much as Let it Go rubs some parents, and adults the wrong way after hearing it replayed 100's of times... It became her 'Cash Cow' and a signature moment of her musical career.

I'm not gonna argue that it shot her into super stardom, it's just the general observation that she almost looked bothered to have to sing it again. That's all.

Watching this show kinda reminds me of the new Celebrate fireworks show. Both celebrate "Disney" much more than they celebrate "Disneyland"

So much cheese I wish it came with chips so I could make nachos.

It's a Disney special, so I expected the cheese. But what the heck did this have to do with Disneyland other than some vague references to Walt Disney during the park opening?

Otherwise it felt like an awards show by Disney reminding Disney how special it is.

Whoopi Goldberg has a long history with Disney, not the least of which is her current gig on ABC's The View, which disturbingly enough, is produced by Disney. As an ABC star, that's likely why she was on the special.

*raises hand*

Officially put me down as being excited for everything.

Haha ya I'm excited not really for the Star Wars content but for the simple fact that something new is finally coming to DL in the form of a beautiful, immersive land. I'm cautiously optimistic that at least one of the two attractions will be groundbreaking. Of course there are probably 10 other IPs I would have liked to see get love before Star Wars but still excited nevertheless. The restaurant is the one thing that was a surprise to me. I mean if I sat down and thought about it I guess it would have been obvious that a 14 acre Star Wars land would have at least one table service. But with all the talk of the rides and ROA demolition I didn't give it much thought. The concept art looks pretty cool.

On another note as popular as Star Tours is its still hard to believe that It is not moving to SWL, staying in TL and most likely going to Yesterland in the next 5-10 years. It's also puzzling because everything I read says Hollywood Studios and Disneylands version of SWL will be pretty much identical and Hollywood Studios will be building around Star Tours.

My guess is that after experiencing two ultra modern, high tech Star Wars rides guests may not lament the loss so much.

I, for one, would have been pretty disappointed to learn they were sacrificing even a tiny bit of real estate of the new land to what will be a 30+ year old ride by the time it opens!

I would agree if the footprint wasn't so so tiny. DL could use all the capacity it can get. But thats assuming that there would still be any real demand for Star Tours after the new Star Wars rides open. I only say surprising because present day it is still really popular, it's easy to update with new scenes and they just recently opened ST 2.0. I guess I'm more surprised that it seems to be destined for Yesterland as opposed to it not being moved to SWL.

I hear ya. I'm going to assume there are enough similarities with the Millennium Falcon attraction that it probably would have felt redundant to have Star Tours there and its age would have severely stood out by that point.
