In regards to rental price increases, does everyone forget 2+ years of "rent forbearance"?

For 2+ years, renters were legally allowed to squat if they chose. Landlords are recouping their losses from Covid.

And the apts a few miles from my home had numerous Amazon Fed Ex etc packages dropped off by the apt doors while renters squatted in their apts for quite some time.

Some Orlando foreclosed condos were selling for under $50K in 2009 , the same condos now are selling for $300K.
Correct. I am in the mortgage industry. Prior to the mortgage meltdown the Orlando area was one of the hottest in the nation. They over built. So when the meltdown happened, overnight there was an oversupply. So that is why in 2009 there were properties that could be bought at incredibly low prices. As you mentioned, the foreclosures were crazy and if an investor could get any kind of bid on a property they grabbed it. So now things have tilted in the opposite direction. There is an incredible shortage in housing due to mass migration into the state of Florida. Supply and demand suggests that new construction will pick up and in maybe 3 to 5 years the market will be stable again.

I hope you opened those packages to make sure they were essential supplies and not luxury items and reported and unnecessary spending to you their landlords! :p

"Rally for a Raise" announced for 3/16 near MK along Reams Road!
I'd hate to add this, but I'll do it as such: DO NOT CROSS THE PICKET LINE!
That's a pretty boring location for something they wish to be a headline-grabber. What's going to be in the background of the photos? The new self-storage place? The 7-11?

It is a violation of the contract for an employee not to cross the picket line, unless it would pose a risk of violence. Also, there won't be a "picket line"; it is a rally. No strikes are permitted at this time, as the contract is still in effect.

Negotiations are reportedly resuming next Thursday, March 23.

From the STCU President -

“We’ve made a lot of progress in work rules, we’ve made a lot of progress in very important areas, but that does not replace the fact that Disney workers need real wages and they need them now.

So, I have good news for you. We’re going to be meeting next week with the company in bargaining back at the Wyndham next Thursday.

When we get there, we’re expecting to see an offer that reflects the priorities that we have continued to tell the company are important to every Disney worker.”
