Not overly excited. Loved the travel theme of previous year, cant imagine this ones being as nice.

TLM is my favorite - this is great because it'll give me time to work on my running costume ideas!

Two companies to look at - Sparkle Skirts and Sparkle Athletics. They have tops, running skirts, head gear, etc., geared to Disney races. Sparkle Skirts is always at the race expos. I love their Sparkle Bottoms 2.1 running shorts. Two large leg pockets that securely hold any phone and a nice big waistband zippered pocket for energy gels.

I've been looking at Sparkle Skirts - a little spendy but they look like good quality. I've also been looking for ideas on Etsy but I'll check out Sparkle Athletics too!

Did the W&D 10k start at MK in 2017? I don't remember. @Texas84, do you remember?

Both the Dark Side 10k and Half started in MK parking lot, ran to Hollywood Studios, then Epcot.

The Princess Half starts somewhere around Epcot that you have to walk 2 miles to reach the corrals, out to World Drive to the MK gate, around the TTC, back to World Drive, under the water bridge past the Contemporary, through the MK turnstiles , down Main Street, over to Tomorrowland, past Mine Ride & Be Our Guest, through the Castle from the back, over to Splash, cross the train tracks to the Float building (where the Princesses are standing for photos), out the back of MK, down Floridian Way past the Grand Floridian to World Drive to Osceola Parkway to Epcot. But unlike all the other races, you enter Epcot from the front, using the employee only entrance (no World Showcase for this race) to the usual finish line.

If I've misstated the courses, I'm sure @Texas84, @dreamfinder or some of the other regulars will correct me.

Yep, TTC parking lot to Epcot. No World Showcase like before. Disappointing.

I may have to try out the Sparkle Bottoms - do they fit the same as Sparkle Skirts? I fell in love with Sparkle Skirts because of the pockets and I'm looking forward to warmer weather so I can start running in them again outside and not just on the treadmill. Last summer when we went to the beach I lived in them because it meant I didn't need to bring a purse with me anywhere - telephone in one pocket, small wallet in the other and keys in the zippered pocket.

Yes, they do - go by waist measurement. The shorts are about 7" in the inseam, probably about an inch longer that the shorts attached to the skirt. The shorts have a band around the leg, kinda like a cuff, so they don't ride up. The shorts come in many different colors and prints. They also have capris and just added capris with an attached skirt. I like the shorts separate from the skirt - easier when using those lovely port-a-potties.... Like all Sparkle Skirt products, they aren't inexpensive, but I've gotten over 2 years out of 3 pairs of shorts. I wish more manufacturers of running shorts for women would (1) provide shorts with inseams longer than 5 inches and (2) pockets bigger than a key. With a zipper. Between the 2 pockets on the legs, the big zipper pocket on the shorts and the small pocket on the skirt waist, I don't need a flipbelt for long runs anymore. I've got plenty of pockets to hold energy gels, hand sanitizer wipes, ID, phone, keys. And a bottle band on my sports water bottle holds that.

This is the bottle band. Just under $8 on Amazon. Comes in a variety of colors - and it really fits many different sizes of bottles. I slip it on my Brita sports water bottle with no problem. And if you use disposable water bottles, after you toss the bottle, the band slips on your wrist like a bracelet. Also easily hangs on the hook on the back of the bathroom stall door. Much easier than those Velcro water bottle thingies I see strapped to runners' hands.

I bought something similar to Bottleband at Decathlon (think of a Costco size sporting good store - at least the one nearest to me is HUGE) for the ridiculous price of EUR 1.50. Best (and cheapest) running gear I ever bought ;)

Uh...do you need to carry a water bottle with you during a half? How far apart are the H20 stops typically?

I've seen people carry their own bottle but I wouldn't (don't) for a Disney race - I've found them to be very generous with water stops and while I don't particularly enjoy the taste of many sports drinks, I don't have a sensitive stomach so I don't need to worry about having something new while racing. I think some people that carry their own want to make sure their stomach will tolerate what they are drinking.

Every 1.5 miles. I bring my own bottle that has water and a packet of Vega hydration powder added. I refill my bottle at the hydration tables - they have volunteers who have large bottles of water to refill your bottle, in addition to paper cups with water in them. That way, I don't have to stop at every station. They also have Powerade in addition to water - I hate that stuff. Around Mile 9 or 10 they have either energy gels or beans, but I bring my own - I consume one every 45 minutes or so. I prefer Honey Stingers to what rD hands out.

I plan on wearing my Camelbak hydration vest for the Dark Side Half. I fear that's gonna be a very warm race. I see more and more runners wearing an hydration vest for the halfs.

I make a clear and swift plan for each visit to the Decathlon, otherwise I end up buying half of that store.
