Ok advice needed from the rD vets. Should I go for all 3 races? Will i die? I'm NOT a runner but I'm doing the half for sure. Would the 5k & 10k be good "warm up" races? I'm just looking to finish without dying - no PRs here! I'm just not sure dropping $400+ on 3 races if I'm not going to finish the half.

Note: I AM currently training (very slowly!)- I'm running a 5k next weekend and I would like to do at least 1 5k a month and possibly a 10k or half before November.

Also - the commerative items - buy them ahead of time or wait 'til the Expo?

I ran my 1st Half as part of the Glass Slipper Challenge and threw in the Princess 5k for laughs. I didn't fully train, but I survived. You've got plenty of time and plan on running in races during your training. I say, go for it. I'll be there with you.

Buy them ahead of time, especially since you can now get the logo pin, medal replica pin and magnet for each race. And the jacket. Which you'll wear while we all party at the after race party. Just know the jacket is form fitting - I always go up a size. And the jacket you preorder isn't available at the Expo.

My sister did the 36K challenge in Disneyland Paris without any training and survived. The 5K was friday night, so less than 12 hours to recover (we ran a bit during that).

I'm up for doing the 5K: you're already there so 1 extra day and race cant hurt. And extra bling!

@DznyGrlSD,

Good article on fueling for a race.

I'm in total agreement with a big glass of chocolate milk after a race. Right ratio of carbs (80%) to protein (20%) for recovery. And it's :hungry:

Oh yes, I am a big fan of chocolate milk after running (plus calcium is good for bones).

@DznyGrlSD : Personally, I wouldn't do all three for your first time, but doing the 5K before the half can be a good warm up run. But then I am older than some (and younger than others) here so my perspective may vary. You will devote a lot of time training for your first half (I had to anyway) and it may end up being even a lot more time training back to back runs. Beside, it'll give you something to look forward to for the following year ;)

Theme's are up on the rundisney website

5K : chef Remy (Ratatouille)
10K: chef Louis & Sebastian (The Little Mermaid)
Half marathon: chef Mickey

Not overly excited. Loved the travel theme of previous year, cant imagine this ones being as nice.

Yes, join @RunningKeon and me for the 5k through Animal Kingdom.

I’m an AP so I’m hoping I can register tomorrow BUT I can’t access any passholder pages despite having a properly linked pass. Phone calls to tech support have so far returned zero help.

Where did the princess 10K start?

And where did the Wine and Dine 2017 10K start? and the Dark Side?
The Princess 10K is Epcot focused, starting in parking lot, Country lap, out to crescent lake resorts, then back thru Epcot to finish out front.

If I’m not mistaken, WineDine had new courses last year.

10K started at MK parking, ran down to Studios, then over to Boardwalk and then Epcot to finish.

The half started at MK lot then went the marathon route to AK, then over to Studios, Crescent Lake, then a lap around countries to finish outside in the parking lot. I am looking forward to this course, hope it sticks. It’s like the end of marathon WITHOUT ESPN.

I've never gotten the AP link to work. I always use the DVC link.

Did the W&D 10k start at MK in 2017? I don't remember. @Texas84, do you remember?

Both the Dark Side 10k and Half started in MK parking lot, ran to Hollywood Studios, then Epcot.

The Princess Half starts somewhere around Epcot that you have to walk 2 miles to reach the corrals, out to World Drive to the MK gate, around the TTC, back to World Drive, under the water bridge past the Contemporary, through the MK turnstiles , down Main Street, over to Tomorrowland, past Mine Ride & Be Our Guest, through the Castle from the back, over to Splash, cross the train tracks to the Float building (where the Princesses are standing for photos), out the back of MK, down Floridian Way past the Grand Floridian to World Drive to Osceola Parkway to Epcot. But unlike all the other races, you enter Epcot from the front, using the employee only entrance (no World Showcase for this race) to the usual finish line.

If I've misstated the courses, I'm sure @Texas84, @dreamfinder or some of the other regulars will correct me.
