When do you think we will know what event host resorts will be? Would like to reserve my room asap.

Welp, it's official. 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings, with the party Sunday night:
https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...16-rundisney-wine-dine-half-marathon-weekend/

Disney just saved me a boatload of money, since I no longer have any interest in this race. It felt special since it was a nighttime event and led directly into the party, and it was relatively easy to do as a quick weekend trip during a time when I wouldn't have otherwise visited WDW. Now it just feels like yet-another one of their similarly bland race weekends with a forced theme.

I'm also curious how the after party will work logistically, since it's a mix-in with regular park hours; they going to have a very difficult time clearing the park of non-party-ticketed guests on the final night of the Food & Wine Festival (not to mention anything of those who have had a bit to drink)

I wonder how this will impact its popularity. It was one of the fastest races to sell out last year (~30 minutes), but it seems like the changes have killed it for a lot of people. C'est la vie.

Just saw this too and I have to say I am disappointed! My first run Disney race and half marathon was the wine & dine half (quarter) marathon last year. I was looking forward to signing up again for 2016... It's unappealing now that it's a morning race and the after party is only until 1 AM now. It definitely loses its appeal... I am glad that I got to run (some) of the original course thru the osbourne Christmas lights last year. That was beautiful!

I'm going to be that guy who likes the changes.

Regardless, be prepared. The new challenge will sell out in minutes. I'm going for it.

The after-party issue isn't new. They still had to clear out regular guests for the night race. And clearing Sunday night might be easier than Saturday night.

A night race with a party at the finish line was awesome. This just won't be the same. How many non-locals are going to want to book another night and probably use another vacation day just to attend a Sunday night party?

Every WDW trip since 2011 has involved a runDisney race. They have been the only reason I keep going to WDW. But now both the parks and races have gotten overcrowded and expensive. After the Dark Side race, I'm done with WDW for a few years.

I agree with you Mad Stitch. i was expecting this to be my last Wine and Dine anyway. It's gotten to be too much hassle and too much expense. I actually think that changes are pretty good. People will love getting more bling for a challenge and a daytime race will make it easier to enjoy more park time. Being up late for the party was great but it really took you out it for much of the next day.

I understand people being upset about this race losing the uniqueness of a night race, but I didn't enjoy Wine and Dine much because I hated having to constantly watch the time the day of the race to decide when to eat, when to leave the park, and having to get to WWoS so early because of the road closures. It was just too much waiting around for me. And then of course the delay. I didn't plan on signing up again but now I just might for the challenge and be able to visit at my favorite time of year. I'm curious what the course will be if construction at Studios is well underway.

While I'm disappointed the half marathon is now an early morning race, I'm glad they've added the 10K. This is going to be my first half and I was wondering how crazy I was trying to do the 5K and half on the same day. Now I will just spend 3 straight days running, lol. Looking forward to my first half at WDW.

Well I am out too. I liked the night time aspect and I honestly do not enjoy the crowds during food and wine too much drunken stupidity...I am glad I got to do the 1/4 last year and run through the Osbourne lights.
Looking forward to Dark Side next month and then maybe I will take a few years off as well. But maybe not, I do love the Star Wars and Princess. I think I have a few months to count my pennies.

UGG Seeing the same thing

Right at noon, online and selected the Challenge. Went to start the registration process and boom, race on hold. Selected the 5k, managed to complete that and now EVERYTHING is on hold. Never had this happen so quickly with early registration for any Disney race. Wondering if something is wrong with the website...reason for my comment "did we break it?", lol.
