I'm on the fence. I KNOW I won't run all 3 races on my own, especially a half. Is it worth the $$ I paid for the race just for my goodies or should I take a refund and put it towards Star Wars 2021?

If I were faced with the same choice, I’d go with putting the refund towards Star Wars 2021. All the more so since you now live close by and wouldn‘t need to make travel arrangements. Plus, didn’t you say you were finding it too hot to train outside and that you didn‘t have a good indoor alternative?

all of this actually LOL.

I did have a room only reservation for the weekend which I just cancelled. I KNOW I won't run a half on my own - maybe the 5k & 10k.

I wonder if they'll reveal the medals/shirts before we have to make a decision? Also, how much of a gift card, and what are the restrictions on it? would all be nice to know before i decide what to do.

I'd keep the 5k as a virtual and get a refund for the challenge.

I completely understand; I’ve done numerous virtual 5ks, and at least one virtual 10k, but I don’t think I could run a half on my own. While I am now almost always « ready » to be able to complete a 10k, a half is quite another level in terms of training.

Says the woman who's PERFECT for DLP. 😁

But that‘s because I put in the training for it (and one day I’ll even break 3 hours 🤣). But « on my own » I think I’ve never done more than 9-10 miles. Even if I’ve run DLP once (twice?) now on my own, plus the half during marathon weekend, it isn’t the same as running 13.1 miles in a virtual setting - because at least seeing other runners struggle, or spectators cheering, helps keep me going forward. In fact my easiest half was the one during marathon weekend; despite the cold weather it was really easy to keep going with so many other people running around me.

I do the SW Virtual Half every year.
