Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

I agree that since spectators don’t usually show up in massive numbers it helps the case. But it’s the registration and the packed corrals that’s will doom it.

Marathon weekend I think has a chance since they capped it so much.

IMO if the state doesn’t lock down again and get this under control there’s a zero chance this happens.

I would agree, but as things stand, with the state not locked down, the race is a go.
I would think there should be extra controls in force to do it though. Maybe temp
checks at bib pick-up and even entering the corrals. Here is hoping for a safe & healthy
run.

Disney's not going to risk thousands of runners getting exposed to covid. Especially with 10k+ new cases per day. This race was wasn't "undersold" like Marathon & Princess weekends were. They're going to cancel, it's just a matter of when.

There's no way to safely hold people in corrals 6' apart. There's no way to release waves of THAT many runners safely apart. even if they mandated masks, there's just too much of a risk.

If runDisney mandates masks, they must then relax their pacing requirements and allow refunds for cancellations. While I have no problem wearing a mask for my 30 minute trip to Publix or Lowe's, the thought of doing 13.1 miles in the warm that is now November while wearing a mask will make me seriously reconsider this race.

3 weeks ago, I gave this race 40/60. After the past 10 days, I think we'll be getting notice in September of the cancellation. I'm hoping I'm wrong...

I think you are right. I think the DLP half was about 3 months out when the cancellation notification came out - and there are way fewer participants in the DLP races than the WDW races. I’m sure certain conditions must need to line up before the notification can be made, which is frustrating for participants but just the way it has to be.
