People need to know that WDW themselves will update the website and that they will contact people with reservations and deuces changes and reschedule options. Don’t always believe media, call Disney Vacation Specialists.
I cant imagine they would open when things are worse than when they first closed. They will not risk subjecting thousands of people to the virus. However, I'm sure there would be lots of crazy customers willing to take the chance and go to the parks.

Keep in mind Disney has enormous governmental control, so legally they would probably be exempt from any county-specific order. Realistically they would never not comply, nor will they likely be open before may.
And the county were many of their employees live is going on lockdown tomorrow so it will be illegal for the business to be open. As said above, they have already told their employees to comply with the order. The fact that they’ve not yet publicly extended is likely logistical so they can get the proper messaging ready for call centers, web sites, etc. before they publish the change. Just as when this started the call centers get blown out of the water so they need to have all their messaging in place before the public statement.

Edit- Corrected the driving language which was used more for emphasis in the ridiculousness of the quoted statement than specific detail.

Could you please provide a source that states that lockdown = no driving? Of course, there are very few places open to drive to, but my understanding was that people could still drive to places that were open (groceries, etc) and for all practical purposes could drive around as long as they have little or no person to person contact with anyone. Especially delivery people, truck drivers, etc.

So I'm not sure the onus will be on employees, but rather employers, to go into lockdown. Of course, in areas where the majority of people do not drive personal cars on a daily basis the lockdown is handled differently.

Edited the post above to remove the emphasis on driving illegal- was kind of frustrated by the blindness of the poster I was responding to since I live here and this direct effects myself and my family and friends.

We (I live here) can indeed still go to grocery, medical, etc.. but the order was published by the City and County last night and takes effect on Thursday evening. Driving to work at Walt Disney World is not going to be considered essential service with the exception of things like security and predefined maintenance operations and animal care. We are expecting Osceola County to issue a similar order very, very soon.

Residents will still be able to go out to buy groceries, medicine and essential supplies but it means retails stores and businesses who don’t sell essential items will close, officials said. Businesses that will enable people to go about their lives, including laundry mats and grocery stores, will remain open.

Under the stay-at-home order, Sheriff John Mina said law enforcement officers will issue warnings but people who violate the order could receive $50 citations or up to 50 days in jail.

You can find the text of the full order here:

Section 2 of the order specifically includes- All non-essential retail and commercial business are hereby ordered temporarily closed, including but not limited to, whether indoors or outdoors, locations with amusement rides, carnivals, water parks, pools, zoos, museums, arcades, fairs, children's play centers, playgrounds, theme parks, bowling alleys, pool halls, movie and other theaters, concert and music halls, country clubs, social clubs and fraternal organizations.

Yeah there are no real restrictions on just driving around, although that would be a waste of gas. These orders allow for a lot of exceptions, though. For example, Ohio's order specifically states an exception for exchange of child for custody purposes, which is good.

The workers for WDW would definitely not get an exemption to go to work though, under this order. No matter how many forum members consider their vacations as "essential services"

So, if your employer/business does not honor the order, and if you still drive there, you will be fined. Which is pretty much statewide. But I still think the onus should be on the business to follow the lockdown.

She is posting the same misinformation on social media. I am disappointed that they are closed and will be closed longer, but I am not unrealistically obtuse regarding the need for the continued closure.

Enforcement of all of this is kind of impossible except for the huge employers like the theme parks, etc.. It will indeed be interesting to watch happening now that I'm in the actual middle of it.

In NYS if a business that is not considered essential is open and orders its employees to come in the business will be fined.
You cannot fine a person for following their company's orders of come in or be fired.

People know that.

But if you think WDW will reopen in a few weeks you’d better prepare yourself.
I'm just curious if you would be willing to share your own personal guess as to when we will see Walt Disney World start to reopen in even a limited form. I'm not asking for you to share any insider information; just your own personal opinion.

This thread needs deleting or a "?" added at the end of it's title. Money's on, No! for April 1st.
Best Guess probably April 27th. Although the smarter play, IMO would be to open in May and use the momentum of "May 4th" and everything Star Wars as a way to relaunch DHS and the other parks.

OP, my advice to you is do more research. You said don't go by "media" but at some point, you got to understand that this world is in crisis mode. Disney doesn't want to cause more of an issue by staying open and allowing the virus to quickly spread, especially since it can be such a crowded place. I highly doubt they are going to open within a week, two at that. My thought is this is going to last a lot longer just to get the virus under some sort of control and break the wide spread issue. At that point, the parks may start opening back up, but not anytime soon.

I’d rather not. In case some runs with it as gospel despite it being a guess.
Totally respect your WDW knowledge, and also totally respect your desire not to give an outright guess. That said, let me see if I can finesse this a little bit with you, lol. If you personally had WDW vacation plans in July, what level of excitement would you still have at this point? Can I get you to bite on that?!

I am guessing that the OP thinks it is not a question, but a fact. I will have to wait and see when she logs back in (most likely after the announcement that the closure was extended) if she says anything about it on this thread or just starts another thread to rant about the extension and the unfairness of it all.
