Trailer park DVC, not subtle.
That's not this. The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort | Disney Vacation Club
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is a Disney Resort hotel on 750 acres of forest with scenic trails and a beach, evoking the American frontier.disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com
I know. I was trying to edit when my cat got in the way. Wound up deleting on accident. No official still on DVC was my point. That's not this.
Not laughing at you but the absurdity of it all.So who is buying points ?
Re-sale sales are down and rentals are down.
Is the demand there?
He walked through the parks getting feedback from guests just a short time ago. Maybe these were some of the ideas guests gave him?Anyone still buying for a second that Iger is leaving?
He’s running out all his bad ideas/policies from before.
They have ZERO attractions under construction…but two dvcs.
Keep drinking the sand
They are quite popular
These will replace all existing cabins. The existing cabins will be no more.
Well, didn't have that on my bingo card! I wonder if this news has any coloration with the news of Reflections possibly restarting construction (or is this the alternative Disney chose instead of resurrecting the Reflections idea?). I feel if they are going to bump all this new DVC into this area of the property (assuming Reflections is indeed back on) some new transport between the three "wilderness properties" and maybe the TTC must be in the works as well... right?
If they had bought "way back in the day" they would have gotten tens of thousands of dollars of value out of it and would currently be holding an asset that's still worth tens of thousands of dollars and is very easy to sell if they wanted to exit.
"Way back in the day" is the best time to have bought it... the further back, the better.
Doesn’t even have to be that far back.
I found a DVC cost analysis spreadsheet I did in 2014 and it still haunts me, a week of points at Wilderness Lodge would have been $10k, at the time that felt so expensive but comparing it to current prices it drives me crazy I didn’t buy then.
The sad thing is I debated DVC again last year and did another cost spreadsheet, if I stumble across that in a decade it’ll probably look cheap in comparison and I’ll regret not buying in 2022.
I would imagine the cabins are nearing that age of needing to be significantly updated or replaced. These are essentially prefab homes Disney is using as hotel rooms. Given the quick turn around the new ones seem to be new prefabs built offsite and brought in.I have an idea, why not turn the Reflections site into DVC cabins and leave Ft. Wilderness alone?
the existing cabins were also prefab units trucked in to the site...so removal and replacement should be easier...they look to be close to the same size too...but much nicer looking. Maybe they will build new amenities specifically for DVC in that location...they certainly should... Only way I would stay there is if there were nicer facilities than what currently exists a distance away...If they intend to sell the DVC points, they are going to have to make the property enticing... the lack of better transportation options is also an issue...This is intriguing, for several reasons. This seems to be replacing the existing cabins at Fort Wilderness and those pads are close to parking and reception, but far away from Pioneer Hall and the main resort amenities. Does that make this DVC the one with the rooms farthest away from any resort amenities? Any interesting choice for what amounts to a Disney Deluxe accomodation.
It also seems like these are chosen because of the speed at which they could be implemented. Pre-fab building designed offsite, demo the existing cabin, and then bring the pre-fab in to set in place. But who are these for? It was my understanding the most popular DVC units are one-bedrooms. This is 350 additional likely two bedroom units at one of the most remote resorts. Is there that much demand for cabins if they are not on the water?
Finally, what does this mean for the Reflections (ugh) site? That is still cleared and a potential site for development. Again, would there be enough demand for these cabins as DVC units and that property if it comes back to life?
