I don’t know how it’s laughable that the adult area is ridiculously small or that walkways on deck 11 are narrow when there are lines for the eateries and bars. Or they seemingly used more real estate for premium shopping than standard shopping. Or that I can’t make a loop of the ship on deck 4 anymore. That’s not anything being overblown, those are facts. We’re almost done with kids clubs so that aspect holds little pull with us in the near future. I’m just not as impressed by DCL, particularly when I can look back on some menus from 2019-2020 and they are the same today. But to each his own. And I know they won’t miss me.
And for the record, I do have a cruise booked next year with friends. They are the only reason we’re booked on DCL next.
Hi. Honestly have you been on the Wish? First... I DO get your criticism of the ship. Some of it is spot on but some comes across a little bit of... Ax to grind?
The elevators are a serious flaw. Not just the fact that they didn't have buttons, which they have now corrected, but also just how long a narrow they are. If you're in the back of the elevator and it's your floor, everyone has to get off so that you can get off.
No wraparound promenade deck was also a design choice that probably should not have been made.
Lots of pools but mostly just wading pools. And a severe lack of hot tubs for the adults, unless you are concierge, then you get two just for concierge. Although I've seen some pictures that indicate the Treasure is correcting this.
I do think the small adult area is more reflective of the fact that when you go to the adult area on the dream, the wonder, the fantasy, or the magic, it's pretty desolate after 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. almost no one is there. It's not the case that Disney Cruise line has great nightlife. They do have some great nightlife facilities but they never really turn out to facilitate a great nightlife experience. I was on a 6th night cruise, thanks to a hurricane, on the Disney Wish most of it was spent at sea. We had one day in Nassau and one day at the private island. So four Seasons days on the ship. I honestly, and perhaps even surprisingly, did not find myself missing the larger adult district.
Food on the upper decks was largely an upgrade compared to the rest of the fleet. Marceline market is expansive but overall about the same type of experience that cabanas can offer. However the auxiliary food offerings on the top deck, the Wishes Carnival of Foods absolutely exceeds the current standard on the other ships.
For rotational dining I would say the wish is second to the magic class. Dream and fantasy are the weak link when it comes to rotational dining. Dream They have the weaker version of animators palette and the secret garden is just.... Eh. For the main rotational dining I would say the original magic class still do it best. They have the best version of animators palette and honestly there dinner show experiences in both tangled and most especially Tiana, for better than arendelle on the wish. I'll be interested to see how Coco turns out on the treasure.
Overall I would say the Triton class is the weakest link of the three classes of ships. I'm a platinum cruiser with DCL so like so many others I tend to like the older class better. That doesn't make the newer class inferior and certainly doesn't make it a failure.
One of the improvements that everyone seems to like on the treasure is the lobby, the grand hall if you will. Me not so much, I find it way too dark.
