Disney to Reveal Ambitious Star Wars Plans

Not true. Lucas was ready to start work on Ep. 7 when Iger came a-calling. Had the Disney sale not happened, you can guarantee there still would have been an Ep. 7.

Very true (as in Lucas was working to get the new trilogy made before he sold to Disney)

On another note...I'm sure George Lucas is loving the Disney deal on a Monetary basis. He never sold his shares of Disney Stock when they completed the deal. It was trading at 53 or 54 dollars a share then. Lucas currenlty owns 37 million shares of Disney.
Lucas has made a cool 1.7 billion dollars since selling to Disney for 4 billion. Not a bad chunk of change.

"On October 30th 2012, George Lucas announced that he signed a deal to sell his entire Lucasfilm company to Disney for a staggering $4 billion. Lucas owned 100% of the company which means the entire $4 billion went into his pockets. His net worth more than doubled from $3.3 billion to $7.3 billion, overnight!"

As Feb 4th, 2015. George Lucas is worth 10 billion dollars. A staggering some of money.

Star Wars Land will not open until 2020. 5 years away. It will be hear before you know it.
I'm taking my girls to Disneyland and DisneyWorld this year. They are 3. They will be 8 the next time I hit DisneyWorld...in 2020.
AvatarLand, Pixar, StarWars...2020 will be fun!
The time it takes to build doesn't bother me....just make it awesome!

I agree it will be several years. But I can't imagine anything not opening by May 2017, the 40th anniversary of the opening of Star Wars:ANH (May 25, 1977).

I just pass on what I've been told. You may take that up with the Emperor.... assuming he's not too busy cashing in his stock options.

Check this out. Now, granted it premiered at the real Chinese Theatre in 1977. But with the removal of the BAH, it kind of gives hope there could be a re-creation or some sort of event at HS.

Posted this on another thread:

Nothing has to close. No lakes have to be filled.

Remove the Backlot Express. There's your corridor to the expanded Star Wars Universe, behind Indy. Where they've planned park expansion since day one.

Continue Into the parking lot for phase two if needed.

And then put more things to do with an unrelated IP (!) into the existing sound and television theatres.

A space previously occupied by a large scale E-Ticket - 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
And to the poster who insists Fantasyland is for the wittle children. No, it was not meant to be. Disney World and Disneyland were built with FAMILIES in mind, not JUST appealing to children. Even good old Walt said it's a mistake to appeal to just children. So I hate hearing that argument about kids. Fantasyland had 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Snow White was SCARY, Mr. Toad literally took you to hedoublehockeysticks.

Making it children centric only is a mistake.

Disney World is built for families.
There is something there for every age.
But Fantasyland has always been the most little kid - and again little girl oriented section of the park, with the exception of when 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea resided there.
Snow White and Mr. Toad were still little kid scary.
I didn't design the park that way, that's just the way it is.

Not sure who wrote that originally, but it's wrong. His net worth didn't go up overnight. If you have something worth $4 billion, and trade it for something else worth $4 billion, your net worth didn't change at all. You might have more liquidity, but not more wealth.
