Disney to Reveal Ambitious Star Wars Plans

Perhaps it has already been said, but a strong opening announcement to launch the Star Wars themed area is key. It needs to include some specifics to soften the skepticism that has built since so many were disappointed with NFL. The Avatar area announcement still seems sloppy and bereft of substance. With that said, the drips and drabs of just the visuals and effects for Pandora are very exciting.

They should keep this close until the "Blue Sky" is all done, unlike what they did with Avatar. Perhaps that's why we are waiting until August to hear something. It may actually benefit them to wait on the official announcement until those construction walls are up. It may also benefit them to give an actual opening date. Giving the public a list of what they can expect to see and actually delivering those experiences may truly drive DHS's attendance numbers beyond the half day park monicker.

In any event, the final product needs to be Hogsmeade/Diagon Alley and not Chester/Hester or NFL...

P.S. The view of the Chinese Theater was one I had been missing. It was nice to see that area getting back to pre-hat sight lines.

I know a guy who has a very well placed contact among the bus drivers. He's not just any bus driver. Sometimes, he drives the DHS route. So obviously, he knows what he's talking about. Not a lot of people know this but one of the reasons that Disney hasn't opened a lot of attractions over the last ten years is that they have secretly been building their own Death Star. They are going to use it to destroy Universal. It should be open this summer according to my source.

And it has onboard the 501'st legion of TWDC Legal, Iger's Fist - thousands of former partners of Mean Nasty Brutish and Short Esquires.

Strangely they all look like Harvey and Louis from Pearson-Hardman... They must be clones...

I really love watching the old videos of Walt showing the public what was being built, complete with mockups, artist rendering and models. He did an amazing job of getting people interested by doing those shows. Why the need to be so secretive these days?

With social media, the internet, satellite views and flyover it's difficult to keep it completely secret so why not include the public in the process?

As cool as the Avatar teaser video was, we still have gotten very little since they announced it. Make a series like Walt did and show us what we should be excited about! Create a buzz, Kill the speculation and get quality feedback all at the same time. Unless they know there is a strong possibility of dissapointment in which case they shouldn't even be building anything.

Is it possible that Disney will string us along and wait until Avatar Land opens before even starting construction on Star Wars? I mean having so much Construction on going at the parks is probably not a desired situation. My personal opinion, they should just flat out CLOSE DHS all together and fast track the entire park redo. I think with a dedicated construction crew and the entire park shuttered they could knock it all out in 1 year.

EDIT: Who am I kidding, even with the park shuttered no way they could do all this in a year. This is Disney we are talking about right?

You Betcha, Disney COULD simply close DHS for 12 months and do the work unimpeded by guests but since they consider WDW a mature no-growth market they would rather spend on stock buybacks and Shanghai while throwing a few tens of millions per year at WDW over 10 years or so.

Hey look. Randomdude joined today and has one message.

Anyone want to take odds on him being @MagicGoofy?

My inner 12 year old is distracted but does not fully understand why. The fact that you posted Lego Leia only adds to the confusion.

First off no I'm not randomguy secondly I "ran off" because I had school and I apologies, so I hope we can move on

Yes! Let's move on - everyone shake off those snarky, negative vibes - maybe watch a few of these to get in a full fun mood again...

These guys are my favorite and a riot. They produce local cable commercials and these are the real commercials - lets get some laughs in first, and then it's back to SW with cooler and hopefully happier heads... :)

Based on some first hand accounts behind the scenes of episode 7 I'd vote for present day Leia being much worse.
After seeing her at Star Wars Celebration a few years back, I'd say she is more at the no F's to give state vs coked up now. That is probably harder to work with.

There hasn't been an announcement for the announcement yet....but rumor is d23
I wouldn't be surprised if there is some kind of announcement with Star Wars Celebration in April but I don't think the major announcement will come prior to the December release date of Episode VII.

Aww, give a girl a break... I love her. Yes, the coke probably didn't help. Lest we forget, she's pushing 60 and Mark is 73.

Harrison Ford is... WHOA... He's 72?!? Ok, I know he's about 40-some years my senior, but I must say... THAT man has aged WELL. ;)

I really hope they keep Leia's character snarky/quick witted/doesn't take shiznit from anyone.

With all due respect, I dont think the conversation ever stopped being about Star Wars and/or what road Disney may take with it. If your thinking the conversation got off topic, I dont see how doing an overlay prediction is anymore on topic with respect to the title of the thread. By all means, make an overlay, Id love to see it as they are always fun to see and discuss, but the sad fact is that we dont and we wont have any news coming anytime soon. Its ALL speculation at this point and discussing what to expect is about as 'on topic' as we can be.

I picture her as her character on 30 Rock with Tina Fey. She was hilarious and her character was a 'stuck in the 60s", very liberal type...and yes, there are a lot of coke jokes in the episode
