Disney to Reveal Ambitious Star Wars Plans

Im going to go ahead and admit that I know next to nothing about Star Wars. That being said I LOVE Star Tours and its a must do for me every time I visit the World. Im just thinking out loud here but wouldn't it make since for each Disney resort around the world to get a unique star wars land themed to different places in the star wars universe instead of trying to place everything they can in one theme park. That way you literally have to travel the world to experience the universe, star wars universe that is. I just feel like if they try to do to much in one place it would seem overbearing

Star Wars Land needs to be as big as Avatar Land - I'm not against there being several lands spread throughout DHS or even having the lands in different parks. Use a peoplemover to transport people to the different areas.
Do you find it odd that each park will have "lands" or pavilions with space themes?

I believe Universal is currently looking into building Star Trek attractions.
From everything I've seen on the plans, Star Trek is one of the major attractions planned for the Paramount London theme park in the UK. With the success of the rebooted franchise I can understand why they'd be keen to get some Trek into various theme park locations around the world or they are going to get drowned under the tidal wave of Star Wars movies and everything associated with that especially with the might of Disney and LFL behind them.

All this nonsense about waiting for the film to release so they can incorporate ideas form the film into the park is a load of old horse manure.

Are you seriously telling Iger has not read the script to Star Wars? Are you seriously telling me there are Disney execs who have no idea what the film will be about, characters, etc?

Load of old nonsense as per usual. They know what the film is about, and they can easily get on with the project. They won't though. That would mean spending money and improving the parks, something they don't want to do because they care more about profits than anything else.

Walt would be turning in his grave at this current crop of CEO's.

Since Iger has stated that the new park additions will incorporate things from the new movies, then releasing that now would potentially spoil the movie, right?
I mean, there are hundreds of toys for SW Episode 7 being made right now. Probably in a warehouse ready for shipment. But, they are waiting. Waiting for the right time, I guess.
We will all know soon...not soon enough though. :)

i dont necessarily think concept art would say anything about the movie in terms of spoilers of plot

Was in Toontown last week, and it seemed similarly deserted. It's seen better days...

I do think being in a back pocket of the park hurts how many people visit. Also, even though Roger Rabbit is cool for the whole family, the area is geared towards children and is not as attractive to many DL parkgoers.

Star Wars will be more of a draw in getting people back there.

May I ask what planet you are from? :hilarious: j/k
This can easily be remedied. You have until December 18, 2015 to watch Episodes 1 - 6.

I am hoping that they do expand around Star Tours. Replacing SoA does sound like another viable option/possibility. Geez! Hurry up and tell us already!! :joyfull:
Believe me, I will be having a star wars marathon very soon!

We have expected a Star Wars theme parks expansion announcement for just about two years now.

We've known it's been coming for at least two years now. And instead they decided to drag their feet… Make us wait. And wait. And wait.

And now supposedly they're going to announce it at D 23 which is in August… were waiting another six months. And then we are going to have to wait for them to build it which will take probably another three or four years to build before it's even open.

So all told from the first time somebody put on social media screaming that Bob Eiger and George Lucas were going to announce a Star Wars expansion on May 4 at the studios, it will be about six years before it opens.

I'm not this damn patient. Han Solo wasn't in Carbonite that long. I'm sick and tired of parks and resorts dragging their feet on this project. There's just no excuse for it…

So everybody can go phone with the mouth about this… I'm more than content to put it in context and not have my hopes dashed by whatever lackluster, Budget constraints project they tout. My expectations are that similar to storm trooper accuracy.

They learned from their mistakes with Avatar... Start construction, then announce is the order of the day not announce, wait for Imagineering, budget, construction starts four years later.

D**ned if they do, d**ned if they don't.

No… TheY are a multibillion-dollar entertainment company. If they want to strike while the iron is hot, they can. They have that ability.

However they would rather alienate their fans…
