This project looks like very unsound from an environmental impact. This is just a few miles north of Salton Sea. And, we know what happened there. Water looks like it will come from the Coachella Canal and is already being stretched to provide services for the current population.

It's not about good reasoning, common sense, environmental concerns, weather etc. its about using a piece of property for a project that will generate substantial short term money. After ten or so years when the structures have aged a little, needs for maintenance increase, resources such as water have dried up the old scratch the head and the Why was this built? question will be asked. In the meantime the property owners will be seeking ways to cut losses and recover what ever from their investment. Ah but the ten years down the line thought is too far into the future right now it's about large money up front.

This would seem to be targeted to an upper-middle class demographic who will call the home their primary residence. I don't think similar restrictions would fly for them, but I guess time will tell on how this all pans out. Personally, I don't think I could justify buying a $15m home while I can't even choose a shrub for the front yard... it's not a problem since I couldn't afford it anyway.

On a separate note, I do have to wonder if Disney will truly be in this for the long haul in terms of the ongoing operation of the club. One of the selling points of the community is the "legendary Disney service" but I'm really not convinced they're going to have CMs on the company payroll working there for decades to come.

Apparently nothing was learned from the 2008 housing crash. The current housing prices are absolutely insane and driven in large part by interest rates being too low. Zillow estimates my house as being valued over $1 Million. I like my house but there is no way it should be worth close to that level.

These prices are easily explained. It's like my next door neighbor bragging that he sold his $1,000 dog by trading him for two $500 cats !!

I think, like Celebration, this is more meant to be a nicely appointed and designed town more than a “Disney town”. Their press releases have said their focus is to base the designs on their locations.

GO is one that is already successful. It's just for the very wealthy. This still will be expensive but less then GO but also have less benefits.
