Disney, Storms Blamed For Universal Earnings, Attendance Decline

Universal doesn't build rides and attractions... The sub contractors do... They invented the "How small can Imagineering be" line...

Well they seem to get by with.... I'll tell you... Exactly 10... yes 10 people...

I remember when Universal Creative rented out Wet-n-Wild for a party. There were more WDI employed friends than U.C. there. So yeah, they are a TINY operation

$500 cash on top of that Scottie

You won't do it...and it's not going to happen.

It's bad enough that I live on the same street as them.

I bought a Premium AP to Disney, not a pass to Universal. If I wanted to go to an AMUSEMENT (not THEME) park, I could go to Universal, Six Flags, etc. I have no need to when I've got Disney.

I see pictures and get lectures on Universal almost daily in class, that's more than enough for me!

As a lot of the pics here show, Universal (particularly IOA) has a pretty remarkable level of theming. Obviously, you prefer Disney. Nothing wrong with that, but saying Universal doesn't offer theming isn't accurate.

It has problems though... There are holes in the story so to speak.

Universal does better than most, but not as good as Disney in some respects. They're willing to take more risks though, so that's a good thing.

Anywho, I used to be absolutely in love with IOA but seeing it severely neglected after 9/11 to the point of Suess Landing resembling Nara Dreamland made me dislike Universal as a whole.

It's going to really look good once the Driving Machines are up and running....

If those EVER work, i'll consider rebuying an AP.

I know the long sad story of that ride in detail from before the park ever opened until about 1-year ago when all hope was lost and I stopped caring to follow it.

I'm one of the few people who has ever seen human beings on it.

Um....you guys do now I'm kidding about most parts right (just not the part about me not going back).

I know many enjoy it, but like I said, I paid for a Disney pass, not a Universal one. It was done for a reason. I could easily get an annual at Uni, just don't want to.

James, I'll go to the park entrance next time with you....then give 'em the bird and run! JK

Also, a lot of IOA was "themed" by ex-Disney Imagineers if memory serves right.

Yep...so why does it become "theming" (with quotes) when it's done outside of a Disney park? Would the same work become theming (sans quotes) if the big D were put up over the entrance? :animwink:

I won't Scottie?

Agree to go, and I will hand over 5 $100 bills to a third party we both know to hold until you enter.

the $500 was only to make it sweeter. You know what terms you have to agree to

I don't get it... why is it a coke or pepsi situation?

It's stupid! I LOVE both Disney and Universal equally I don't get why more people can't do the same, at then end of the day we all go to the parks to have fun and both companies do so (albeitin different styles) in my opinion! Having two parks so close is only a good thing for us as a consumer it's healthy competition... if you dislike Universal at least thank it for being there to give Disney something to think about. Do you really think you'd have the choice of all those parks, all those attractions and all those resorts if Universal wasn't in Orlando?

It annoys me when people "hate" Universal just ebcause they prefer Disney, NEWSFLASH: liking Universal isn't going to send you to hell or mean Mickey won't give you a hug next time you see him!!!

If you don't like it, and you've been recently FINE, that's your opinion but Don't put other people down for liking it or enjoy it more than Disney... what difference does it make to you? Just be quiet about it, not everyone likes the same thing. I personally think Universal is amazingly themed, if I'm honest I thing USF is way better themed and organized than Disney Studios, and you can't really complain about IOA not updating because look at Animal Kingdom!!! I will agree that IOA needs something major soon but I love what's there already... i think you're all just jealous of Spidey... I don't think there's one Disney fan who can say they wouldn't want that in a Disney park!!!

Anyways back on topic...

I think Universal are being a bit dumb saying Disney's 50th celebration is partially to blame for low attendance.. it not like it was a surprise and they didn't know about it!! They had plenty of time to do something to try to counter it... hell they could have even tried to utilise the fact more people would be visiting FL just for that, but they were either to dumb, lazy or cheap to bother!
