Disney Springs construction begins

HW would be well underway but that plan failed to deal with the parking situation. So now we are on to Plan B. Used to be such errors would be swept under the rug but not anymore.

So we see that Disney is like most businesses behind the scenes. Earth shattering news for those spirited dusters out there. Some of us figured it out about the time we realized there is no Santa. Or free lunches.

Got to go because National Football League.:joyfull:

Not just HW, but Flamingo Crossings also.

I don't think most of us feel that this is a HW type of project. No, there is construction happening. I personally think they learned a lesson along the way. Atleast I hope they did. I think releaseing some of their anchor tenants help not only create a buzz among gust but also among potential tenants. As Jason said the smaller business get the feeling...."we have to be there". Without knowing which companies are going in if it were I would take a "wait and see" position. What ever financial arrangement Disney has with its vendors you know for sure its going to be steep.

Nobody is questioning that construction has begun; What we're looking for is evidence they actually have more than a handful of tenants (or any) for all the new buildings once they're done. That is the proof we are still lacking, and there is nothing in the above article (even disregarding the source...) that constitutes such proof.

Suppose they do have trouble filling the storefronts. Then it is not at all unreasonable to think there might be cuts or changes to the project, or even a stop in construction. That's what happened over at Flamingo Crossings and Pop Century, and neither project ever went any further.

Hi everyone! I am new to this board. I get the opportunity to come out to DW a handful of times per year for work. My next trip is next week. I am going to have family meet me later in the week and was wondering is it still possible to park at DTD and pick up the buses to the parks? Sorry last time I was there was last December and they didn't have a lot under construction. Thanks!

There are no busses from DTD to the parks except for Disney's Animal Kingdom during a limited time test period - details at http://www.wdwmagic.com/transportat...-kingdom-and-downtown-disney-to-be-tested.htm.

You know what? This seems to be the MO of TDO these days. Release nothing.....don't say squat. Just maybe the HW and Avatar thing has taught them a lesson. Releasing info to early has gotten them in hot water. I am not defending them at all. To me it just shows another facet where they seem to misreading the situation. Not only does releasing vendors early help capture the attention of other potential vendors but gives the whole project a buzz. Again who besides on these boards ( other then just the casual guest) know that DS is happening? Disney and TDO just seems so disjointed. What I mean is that it always looks as though one hand never knows what the other hand is doing. We see this in so many situations that go on. Weather its is construction projects, the studios or the parks. You things that happen and wonder.....what are they thinking? No we are not supposed to know everything but we as uber fans understand the way things were done once upon a time. That is our reference. SOme of you have a wait and see attitude when it comes to DS. Me? As a card carrying D&Ger I am taking a more optimistic approach to the project. Why? Because IMO there is no way TDO and Disney can fumble this.....again. Just for those keeping score this is just another swing at pulling DTD together. It has had somewhat of an identity problem for years. WHat I will say....at its most popular.....there wasn't anything else like DTD anywhere in America. What are we getting now is the big question....again my point of reference is what it used to be. It has to be more then just another fancy mall....it just has to be.

Disney's current line is that parking, either on a surface lot or in a structure, is to remain free.

Personal opinion is that they should offer preferred parking for a fee along with free parking. Perhaps sharing the revenue with vendors to make it more appealing to all.

Why would Disney share the revenue from a parking deck (that Disney built) with outside vendors ?

That makes no sense at all. Why not just keep all the parking money and give them free rent? Makes about as much sense.
