News Disney removing plastic straws and more by mid-2019

I always see selfish entitled adults at Disney and wonder where they all hung out, turns out it's this thread.

Your straws are going and you will have to pay for reusable bags, if you decide to reuse them or just throw them away it's your option but you are still going to pay for them and no amount of moaning like a baby or throwing entitled tantrums is going to change that. Stuff your bags with straws, you could then use those bags to carry your purchases but that would mean using your brains. The straws the few mindless morons carry will be nothing compared to the amount Disney will be cutting.

I look forward to my next trip so I can see the deranged morons kicking off at counter service or guest services about how they can't get what they want, after all if it wasn't straws or bags these same people would be moaning about something else their self entitled attitude felt they should be getting.

Agreed. Also I did all my shopping this year for Christmas without using a plastic bag. I brought my own or just carried my items out. It’s really easy to do when you get in the habit of it!

This is as bad as airlines removing peanuts. If you have a peanut allergy you need to find other accommodations!

Holy sense of entitlement. Let's frame it another way. If you don't like that airlines removed peanuts take a train or a car when you travel.

I don't know that the comparison is the same, but I do agree with the latter statement. If you have a special need, it's your responsibility to accommodate that need. Everyone else should not have to do without or be inconvenienced.

Don't eat peanuts, wear gloves and a mask if you are unsure of the area, check ingredients and then double check.

I am allergic to onion juice, but I don't demand that Taco Bell stop serving onions, I order my food without onions and then I check it before I eat it.

It's not the responsibility of the rest of the world to make sure you are taken care of.

The ADA and various other rules and regulations that were put in place to help people not die because of entitled people like yourself seems to disagree with your agenda. Sounds like you need a safe space.

Why? They are the ones with the special need and considering your comment, "Peanuts could be... really about anywhere." I wouldn't want to take the chance, I'd wear a mask.

With the cost to visit the parks now in days, I don't think it's too much to expect a straw with your $15, watered down soda, even if it's a paper straw, or to expect a "free" bag when you buy a $40 t-shirt and a $20 autograph book.
Because it's one thing (and totally reasonable) to ask that they don't eat peanuts and do their best to avoid them. You can't totally control not being in peanuts' presence. Are you seriously suggesting they wear a mask on a plane? With flying already being an anxiety inducing experience for some, you want other passengers to wonder what some weird guy is doing with a mask on? Next you'll tell me they shouldn't fly at all and take a private yacht across the Atlantic next time they need to travel. I understand that we have a serious sense of entitlement this day and age but allergies can be a serious thing (ie. not simply someone's feelings but someone's health and wellbeing) and especially in an enclosed space like a plane midflight, I think everyone should have their risks of allergic reactions reduced as having one occur midflight could be a life or death matter. Are epipens even allowed on planes?

Just my point of view.

Those who cry about entitlement the most seem to be the same people who suffer from the largest levels of entitlement.

Made from recycled ocean plastics.

I’ve personally decreased the suffering of plastic-addicted crackheadesque sea life by two lids and a straw. This was through no choice of my own, except for the straw the second time.

*pats self on back*
*arms hurts now*

In other news, plastic bags abound. Almost no reusable bags seen on property, and none offered.

UPDATE:
I used a disposable plastic straw today, in lieu of the inadequate paper straw I received for a frozen lemonade. This negates my voluntary sacrifice of one straw earlier in my trip.

The only place I have been that did not have straws out was at a booth at F & W. Still laid down at every table service too. Have not had to ask for them. Same thing with bags when buying stuff.

Today, neither server at H&V or 50s Prime Time gave adults straws without us requesting them. They had to do a little extra work to get more, since they already brought out straws for the kids.

On my last visit to Electric Umbrella all straw dispensers were empty except for one. On purpose or bad service?

Last visit to Disneyland I was in line for a drink and everyone was asking for a straw. Thought I would be cool and decline one but the CM, apparently tired of asking, just handed me one.
