Disney plus Imagineering

Tony Baxter was one of the celebrity Imagineers, but he is hardly imagineering in its entirety.

Anything more than a few minutes dedicated to him seems a bit overkill in the scope of this documentary. Which is all I think he’ll ultimately get.

And they’ll surely have him, Iwerks interviewed him in the first episode. His commentary on Paris and Eisner will probably be the more insightful than a fan worship segment. I wonder if Eisner will show up.

I don't think over a few minutes would be a bit overkill, there's plenty to talk about with him in regards to Euro Disney which is what episode 3 is about.

The man was involved with Imagineering over decades, and is incredibly good at telling stories and anecdotes. It wouldn't be overkill to use him at least the same amount they've been using Irvine (who seems to be the 'star' of the series despite being half the Imagineer Tony, or even Tom Morris are).

Then of course there’s the whole thing about him being alive. Where as most of the 1st generation of imagineers are not.

Tony Baxter wasn’t the only imagineer, names like Joe Rhode, Tom Fitzgerald and a handful of others come to mind but he was a big part of Imagineering in the 80s and 90s: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, New Fantasyland, Journey into Imagination, Star Tours, Splash Mountain, Disneyland Paris and Indiana Jones Adventure

I was actually under the impression that Tony was the only person employed by Imagineering until his retirement in 2013. Every project was singlehandedly completed by him until he left.

I didn’t mean him doing the talking, I meant it’s not a documentary about him specifically.

No more than a few minutes fawning over Tony’s achievements specifically. He certainly should be one of the ‘star interviewees’ for Paris. But it shouldn’t become a documentary on the life and times of Tony Baxter is what I mean.

Wow they really mentioned Songs of the South I hoped they would but sorta expected them to try and not mention it. Pleasantly surprised with how they really are showing the good and the bad so far, even though it was common knowledge it would be easy for them to try and not mention such a problematic movie and try to remove any association they had with making it
