Disney plus Imagineering

Well 5 days in and my Disney + account was hacked. Luckily I was able to log on and change the password.

Interesting enough, when we created our account for Disney + on the 12th, I set a password, then changed it to something hard. Then when I woke up in the morning, I had two emails about my account being changed from them. I assumed it was just a delayed automatic email due to volume. When I tried logging in, my new password wasn't working. Then I tried the first one I had set, and that one worked.

So my assumption was it was really glitchy on the launch eve, and I changed it to a new new password. No issues since.

Now I wonder if I got hacked that first night...

I found out I had been hacked when I tried to add Disney + to my sons TV a few days after mine and was repeatedly told I had the wrong password. At first I thought it was some glitch since it’s new. Then a day or so later I saw an article saying that 1000’s of accounts had been hacked. With that said, maybe it was glitch. I’d imagine I would have been blocked out and unable to change my password had I been hacked. Or maybe I caught them mid-hack?

Yeah, I discovered my new password didn't lock in, so I just logged in with the first one I setup then changed it.

Hmmm.

And I enjoyed listening to the Imagineers list off all of the fundamental concepts of land design and how SWGE violates all of them.

Music? Nope. Full of kinetic motion? Nope. Happy and optimistic architecture? Nope.

Hence why 60+ year old Main Street USA still feels like a kinetic, magical place filled with music, charm, and incredible placemaking and SWGE feels like a depressing abandoned movie set.

Same old boring arguments again. Ever hear of different themes? Not every land has the same rules. You probably have the same complaints about the Africa section in AK looking like a run down 3rd world village or Pandora lacking music in places. Oh, you don’t? I wonder why.

I haven’t been to Africa @ AK or Pandora but Id imagine neither location contain all of the issues that GE does. For example Pandora has running water and beautiful scenery/ greenery. I’d imagine Africa has some sort of live entertainment and One or both of the above have drums playing etc. Off the top of my head I can’t think of one other land in a Disney park that has no kinetic energy, water features and that is so lacking in the music department. I won’t mention the chosen aesthetic of GE as that is more of an opinion although I’d argue it’s not the preference of most human beings. If they were doing a straight copy of a land found in the movies it would be one thing but they had a blank canvas to work with. This has nothing to with themes but just integral parts of creating an enticing theme park land that feels alive.

Im disappointed that the second episode didn’t have Tony Baxter, they didn’t talk about any of his projects, no Big Thunder, no New Fantasyland and they spent like 30 seconds talking about Journey into Imagination and only specified that he was Epcot’s mascot. Tony has played a vital role in Disney Imagineering and deserves some spotlight like Rolly, Marty and Gurr did in the last episode.
Tony will have a whole episode dedicated to him probably. Whenever they discuss Disneyland Paris, I’m sure we’ll see segments of Big Thunder, Discovery Bay, new Fantasyland, etc. The cliffhanger on the last episode, which ended with the opening of Tokyo Disney, will probably lead up to Eisner and Eurodisney.

I agree that GE is lacking in energy and other elements but there are still things that move and there are performers that walk the land you can interact with. Are they enough? No, but they’re there. The lack of music is subjective. The ambient soundscapes work for me more than the obligatory score in the background.

What this about GE not having beautiful scenery? It has one of the most striking mountain ranges in a theme park and all the buildings are equally as detailed. The land couldn’t be more Star Wars when it comes to the design.

Overall the land feels very static to me.

I agree the mountain range is striking/ beautiful. Just wish the foreground/ village had more color and more greenery. Obviously not what they were going for. I know we don’t usually get what we see in the concept art but had the result been closer to it I’d have no issues.

Anyone else uninterested in the other episodes after the Disneyland one?

There is no one Disneyland episode. It is not 1 park or resort per episode.

The series is told in 10-15 year pieces. The first episode only goes until the end of 1966 with Walt's death. Obviously, the history of Disneyland goes beyond that which is why the first 10 minutes of episode 2 is about the Haunted Mansion and later on Space Mountain.

Information about the history of Disneyland will likely be featured in most episodes.
