Disney Playing catch up with Universal... Potter Disney's biggest mistake in 20 years...

1. It's not impossible to think USF and IOA will be at 10 million by 2017.
It's also very possible to see an explosion in attendance at AK with the opening of Avatar and the new night time show. Longer hours, more people to the park and if they hit a winner with Avatar you could see AK bringing in 11.5 million in 2017 or 2018. It's possible that Star Wars is being built by then at DHS at the buzz of the land brings in more people to that park.
But what you are saying, what I am saying is all theory and speculation. Just like it's speculation Avatar land will be good, it's fact Potter land is amazing.
I'm just showing facts right now.
Right now, it will still be very hard for Universal to catch WDW in attendance. Not impossible but very hard.
Islands of adventure is still 1.5 behind AK with Avatar on it's way. Universal is 3 million behind.
I just don't see Universal ever catching up. Right now, Disney has scoreboard on Universal with attendance. Nothing wrong with that. That own attendance over everybody.
Agreed. But even if Star Wars Land is greenlit today... 2019 is probably the earliest we'd see its grand opening. That's plenty of time for both Universal parks to soar past DHS. AK and Epcot might take a little longer to equal, but around 2021-2024, I could definitely see both Universal parks drawing 11.5-12 mililon a piece. 5 years is enough time for both to reach top 5 in Central Florida. Star Wars should have been opening alongside Episode VII... and if you take Spirit's info that certain TDO execs aren't sure about adding two genre-themed expansions so close together, it could be a little while.

And Avatar just doesn't have the hype when you consider New Fantasyland and both Potter areas... it'll give AK a much needed boost, but the park is still 5-7 attractions away from being a full-day affair. USF and IOA will both be full day by 2017. And the waterpark could change the narrative when you consider it'd likely add another day to a UNI vacation.

Attendance doesn't make something great. Wal-Mart and McDonalds aren't the absolute highest-quality in shopping and dining. And WDW isn't exactly the highest quality in theme parks these days. DisneySea is still untouchable for the most part.

It's hard to equal AK and Epcot's attendance after Pandora... but DHS is a piece of cake.

It would be hard, you would need DHS to fall below 2011 numbers to 9610000. Losing 500,000 people in attendance and IOA increasing to over 1 million customers. I just don't see that happening. Universal studios would have to increase over 2.5 million. Very hard thing to do even with the newly minted Potter land.

Disney really does own attendance and it's not even close. Those are facts.

Universal is building better rides over these last 5 years. Those are facts...it's not even close.
Kong, KidZone, nighttime show at IOA, CityWalk 2.0 and Diagon is enough for 2.5 million over 2-3 years.

There you go again.

The comment that I was responding to was that WDW was 'stagnant'. Clearly, that's untrue. You either didn't bother to read the post that I responded to or you are trying to twist everything to match your argument. Either way, you need to up your game.

Up my game? Or expect a minimum level of competency from the audience? I'm not going to play mommy and spoon feed you.

Do you really go "Wow.. this backlot tour is so cool since they added Avatarland at DAK!" . Are you that easily appeased when someone throws you a bone?

When problems sit unaddressed for long periods.. when attractions stay long past their due.. when standards are on the decline... THAT is stagnant.

For the last time (else I look like the fool for arguing with one..) - Throwing someone a bone doesn't mean you've addressed the whole issue. Doing 10% of what is required does not mean you've completed the job. Addressing a fraction of your responsibilities does not mean you are responsible.

And WDW doing a fraction of the refresh needed does not mean the parks are fresh and up to date.

To be honest, there isn't much else to talk about ;)

Its all this site talks about. If you don't own company stock it really don't effect you. But what do I know?

Talk about this. A Fast and Furious simulator with Vin Diesel by the end of next year at the Studios. Also Halloween looks like Walking Dead again but the house I'm excited for will be the sexy female vampire one. Caveat emptor.

Grow up. We are not 'your audience'.

You are getting all bent out of shape because I called you on your BS.

Fast and Furious + museum + nighttime show + Kong for 2015
KidZone + Hotel 5 + JP expansion for 2016
Seuss + waterpark for 2017

That's a fairly realistic lineup for the next few years... then aside from the mystery plot and LC/Toon, there's nothing major to be done. Just replacements/refurbishments here and there.

Is it really implausible to think USF and IOA will be at 10 million or so each by 2017? They're adding major additions year after year. They have momentum on their side. Diagon Alley will do most of the heavy lifting (bringing both parks to 9-9.5 million in attendance each in 2015 with Kong providing an extra boost)
I bet that they will see that level of attendance. Good for them.

Maybe the Universal 'insiders' are simply more credible than the WDW ones.

From what I've read on here, they know what they're talking about. Spirit, Lee, Marni, PhotoDave, and others - if they had intel on new additions, they wouldn't be so coy. TDO just isn't shooting for immersive, innovative attractions these days.

Maybe TDO just doesn't aim to keep the parks fresh? New Fantasyland and Pandora aside, 2 parks are getting almost completely neglected as far as actual, new attractions go (Star Tours and Test Track just got updates - those were overdue... nothing to write home about). Star Wars is a long ways off according to the insiders yet DHS needs a DCA-sized overhaul, Epcot isn't slated for anything except a Frozen overlay for Maelstrom, MK still has three areas that need some love (Frontierland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland) and AK needs about 5-7 more attractions still.

I think that you are correct. IoA saw huge increases after potter opened. I have little doubt that DA will greatly boost US and give an additional boost to IoA. I don't know that it will push both parks into the top five, but it could. It will be interesting to see if they can hold those spots.

You're the one repeatedly changing the context to fit your points.
What in the world are you going on about? My post was directly related to the post that I responded to.
You have repeatedly failed to answer how letting more fall behind than is kept up is the equivalent of keeping everything up.
What is the context to the question? I don't believe that I have ever taken the position that you are attributing to me. I can only assume that you are trying to use me as some kind of foil to your tired argument.

Is your memory that short? Because you just repeatedly laughing at @flynnibus for suggesting the scenario as a possibility. So if the scenario is ridiculous, how is your position not one of disagreement?

Cite the post where I took that position.
It's been what you've repeated the past several pages.
It is unfair to say that they are stagnant. They just built NFL. They are continuing the MM+ rollout. They are building Avatar. Things are happening there. People might disagree on whether they love those things, but it's unfair to ignore that they are doing things.

There you go again, altering the topic so you can make your pithy response.

If you take your wife out to dinner twice a week, then she's wrong if she complains that you never take her anywhere.

There you go again.
