Cheap trailers ain’t cheap, broRoads + DVC.

So far it is a PR exercise
All of Epic Universe is $6B.
Star Wars Land was $1B (just for one, not both).
Imagine spending nearly $1 billion for just 1 ride and a land based on a pentology turned trilogy that clearly had no real direction.Imagine spending $1 billion for just 2 rides and a land based on a trilogy that clearly had no real direction.
Well, 70% of the $60B is supposed to be for new capacity and not a raze-and-rebuilt.
We hope.

Perhaps...I gotta ask and wonder why Fantasy Springs in TDL is on there. Disney isn't paying for that (OLC is) so why would that be included in a memo regarding investment by TWDC?
Has to be Fantastic Beasts, and I’d agree it would be a horrible choice… for their first Harry Potter land, but as the third HP land I think it’ll work out ok.What's this referencing? The HP land at Epic Universe?
There is no iconic OG Starwarsland to build, though. Whatever you would've gotten would have been some variation of the cassette futurism spaceport we have now, just with different plots on the rides and different roaming characters. Yes, it's a massive missed opportunity in terms of meet and greets and attraction content, but you're not lacking a Hogsmeade because there is no Hogsmeade for the franchise.Had Disney given us a land based on Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, etc first, and THEN gave us a land based on the sequel characters I don’t think they’d have gotten nearly as much criticism, instead they ignored the obvious fan favorite and gave us an unknown land no one was really begging for.
Universal giving us Magical Beasts before Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley would have made no sense… just like Galaxies edge before the obvious fan favorite made no sense.
I agree there’s no Star Wars location as iconic as Hogwarts, Hogsmead, etc but I think that should have made the inclusion of the OG characters even more important, it would have brought familiarity to an unfamiliar land, walking into the courtyard and seeing the Millenium Falcon is still a massive wow factor, it doesn’t matter that its parked in an unknown setting because we‘re geaking out over the Milenium Falcon and getting lost in nostalgia, there’s some of that with the other space ships also but that’s really it, the rest feels completely unfamiliar. It’s beautifully done but it doesn’t “scream” Star Wars like HP screams HP, Pandora screams Avatar, Carsland screams Cars, etc. There is no iconic OG Starwarsland to build, though. Nothing has been “watered down”What a shock, things are already getting watered down.
30% isn't likely to be enough either to completely re-do their IT and websites is it?
They won’t. They never do. They just find something new to complain about.I hope when massive construction starts all the naysayers will admit they were wrong.
No it’s still $60. You’re just learning how it will be divided up. Capex totals are always divided in a similar way with varying percentages. So your $60 park piggybank just became 30…and how much of that is for road paving?
I try not to giggle
You see no reason? They went on a marathon in the latter half of the 2010s. I see no reason why the $30B wouldn't be even larger.
I know that but if that maintenance isn't for the parks as you say, what is it for then?"Tech/maintenance", they're bundled together and likely not a 50/50 split
I mean, skepticism over whether they'll end up building the right stuff is one thing. You see no reason?
Business conditions, economy, CEO change, interest rates, budget cuts, etc etc etc just to name a few.
Hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. I’ve been around long enough to know even when the shovels come out, what we end up with isn’t always what was originally announced or within the concept art as well.
it really could be for anything, roads, street lamps, landscaping, laundry services, bathrooms, etc.I know that but if that maintenance isn't for the parks as you say, what is it for then?
Is it though? I'm not denying they'll eventually do something, but I can guarantee you it won't be everything we are hoping it will be or even 100% whatever they decide to officially announce and present in concept art. I've seen how this game works over many years.I mean, skepticism over whether they'll end up building the right stuff is one thing.
Denying that the things they're currently planning will be built before the projects have even been announced is sort of another.
