"We are an equal opportunity employer."

And they are. They are also equal opportunity for charitable organizations too. This is one of them. The Trevor Project is an extremely worthy and impactful movement - and it is making a huge difference to today's youth. Any time there is an obvious need for community involvement - especially when it comes to the safety, security and mentoring of our youth, the answer should ALWAYS be "yes". If you feel differently, I would suggest searching your soul...

Oh I get that but to say it's the gayest or packed with gays...a bit of a stretch I think.

I would say it has a much larger ratio of gays to straights than you would find in almost any business. Gays are often found in larger ratios in entertainment and creative businesses, theatre is another example.

You clearly have an issue with gays but that's your problem. I think you can see your views are in contrast the majority posting in this thread.

Have a magical day and remember when your next at WDW you will be coming into contact with gays everywhere, maybe it's best you don't leave the house :animwink:

I don't know what that means. Did you mean for it to sound gay though?

Are you implying that "gay" is a bad thing? As in the way teenager uses the word? See now I don't know what YOU mean.

I agree they can be found in higher ratios in those environments.

How did you come to that conclusion? You're most welcomed to go back and quote where I ever stated I have an issue with gays or anyone. My initial post was about neutrality.

You don't have to say something directly it is the tone and questioning of your posts. Your not going to say you dislike gays as you know that won't go down well here, it's best kept for BBQ's with the guys.

Many people do not like something or someone but do not outright say it, instead the way they say things shows there true colours. Anyone with half a brain call knows that.

Calling it an "iffy" subject is nothing to do with neutrality and you know it

Tone? You can't even hear my voice and I haven't posted anything in all capitals or with a bunch of exclamation points.

If something is "iffy", it has the potential to rub any one particular group and or demographic the wrong way. He who is neutral avoids the potential adverse effects of rubbing "group X, Y, or Z" the wrong way. I disagree with you. I see them as related. How about agreeing to disagree?

I've worked at Walt Disney World and at The Walt Disney Company headquarters in Burbank. I can tell you that Disney has a much larger percentage of LGBT employees than almost any other Fortune 500 company -- especially in their theme parks unit. While one can speculate on the many reasons for this, one can not argue that a large reason these individuals continue to work there is due to the fact the company treats them with respect.

To those individuals are questioning why Disney did this or suggesting they shouldn't have done it: You are dead wrong. There are kids and teenagers killing themselves way too frequently for being gay or lesbian. If the Company can produce a video that boosts kids self esteem and saves even one life, they absolutely should. Nobody chooses to be gay. It's a fact of life - no matter whether or not you want to accept that.

In fact, for those of you who are questioning whether Disney should have done this, you are just feeding into the problem of why these kids are so depressed. You should be happy that a Company you love is partnering with an organization who's SOLE PURPOSE is PREVENTING TEEN SUICIDE. If you can't accept that, then perhaps a vacation to Walt Disney World is not the right place for you.

My sister is a vegetarian, and is offended by people eating meat. Does that make meat an "iffy" topic because putting it on the menu rubs her group the wrong way? And if I suggested that Disney should think twice about having so much meat it its restaurants because a good number of people think using animals for food is cruel, would it not be appropriate for people who read that post to think that I am offering support to those who are offended by meat on the menu?

That's the reaction you're getting. By suggesting that because homosexuality offends certain people, perhaps Disney shouldn't support a cause aimed at convincing gay people not to hate themselves and the world, you come across as supporting those who are offended by homosexuality and would rather not be reminded that it exists. And people tend to be offended when it appears that somebody is supporting discrimination.

I think this thread has pretty much ran its course now. I'm going to close it.
