The idea of a romp through musical history sounds cool but in practice I think it would be a ride of pure annoyance. I already find it annoying that any ride with a speaking part and even a lot of stage shows include guests that feel it necessary to sing/speak along with the show. The last 4 times I rode Haunted Mansion there was a group that pretty much went word for word with the host, ruining the pre-show for first time riders. You create a ride of nothing but popular tunes and I know I'd be unlucky enough to get the vehicle full of guests who feel they are part of the show. We had to move away from a prime spot at the villian spectacular during last years halloween party because a group behind us was singing and speaking all the lines.

couldn't you at least have used classic Mickey over the 2013 shorts one.

this is tacky AF how are they gonna put this in the chinese theater?? mickey through the ages would've made much more sense with the theming of the attraction! plus does anyone actually like those (trash) shorts they put out?? i'm not happy, and it doesn't soften the blow that GMR is being replaced a ride better suited to fit in the "hollywoood history" type of theming that currently stands. instead their selling out and trying to force IPs in by replacing it with something tacky that doesn't match at all. they're only justifying it by saying "it's like being immersed in a disney short!" #notmydisneyshort

are they DEFINITELY keeping the chinese theater facade and the handprints outside? (@marni1971)

Well based solely on the art and description of the new ride, it sounds very lame. Like Rat and Toy Story Mania, it seems mostly video screen based with little to no set pieces or AAs. Plus they are using that rather grotesque Ren and Stimpy looking "flash animation" character design from the newer shorts, bleh.

The transforming scene was sort of cool for a low-tech effect. Imagineering made it sound like an ambitious and sprawling attraction. As always, I'm skeptical until they deliver. There is a TON of room in that building and we've seen them abandon space before. Plus, an all Mickey & Friends gift shop would fit in there too...

So long GMR. I think your gangster hijacking scene is slightly tone-deaf for today's sensibilities, but I always loved you.
